“Very nice, new hotel.”
Reviewed November 19, 2009

My wife and I had occasion to stay overnight in Cedar Rapids in early November 2009. We chose the Hampton Inn and Suites based on Trip Advisor reviews -- and boy, were those review right on the mark!

As one reviewer noted, this is a new hotel. Everything still looks bright and sparkly; nothing is worn down or worn out.

Pros: absolutely the largest breakfast lounge area I've seen in a mid-price hotel. (And the breakfast was not only free, but good, as well!) Great pillows; spacious room; large desk; nice "lap desk"; wonderful bathroom.

Cons -- and these are all weak cons: It's a block off a main street, but it's not particularly obvious how to get there. That's not the hotel's fault, clearly, but it's just a bit odd. Also in the realm of odd, our bed already had just the slightest sagging in the middle. (The hotel opened earlier this year!) The mattress was otherwise great. The rate wasn't outrageous, but it just seemed a bit high for this size town, on a Friday night when there weren't any major attractions in the area to drive the price up. But check the specials: we chose the "Gas n Go" offer, paying $20 extra to get a $25 BP gas card as part of the deal!

Check-in and check-out were both very easy and quick; the staff was cheerful and helpful.

The hotel is just two minutes from the interstate, and ten minutes from downtown, so it's very convenient for business and if you've got a child at Coe.

Nice place, nice rooms, great breakfast area, convenient to the interstate -- I recommend this highly!

This was the nicest Hampton Inn I have ever stayed. We had a regular room with a king bed. The bed was like a cloud, puffy white comforter and mounds of fluffy pillows and sheet that covered the entire bed and stayed in place all night long. Both the room and bathroom were large and comfortable. What amazed me most was how quiet the hotel was that night. It was fully booked and most of the crowd were football fans which can often spell rowdy and loud. The free breakfast was well stocked and because of the large crowd they had opened a conference room for extra seating. They have a little store for snacks open 24 hours. There are lots of hotels in this area and a mall and restaurants just down the road. The fan on the heat was a little loud and ran constantly but soon just became background white noise.

Great place to stay. We had a huge room, a little kitchenette tucked over by the door - high def tv with a lot of channels. Room was large enough to have the relatives over and still have plenty of space. The beds have the bedspreads that they can actually wash and really comfy pillows. Really nice place overall. Very clean. Very peaceful. Oh and the complementary breakfast was above what you get at most places. Pool was a little small for kids to run around in but this was offset by a hot tub. We would definitely stay again.

This is a brand new hotel-- opened in late January and holds true to the Hampton Inn & Suites brand. We have four children and get the suite and it's just perfect-- mini-frig, kitchenette area, pull out couch, flat screen TV-- everything we need. The pool and hot tub were wonderful, as was the free access in the business lounge since I didn't bring my laptop this time. The breakfast was excellent and plenty of choices for the kids. The staff were very friendly and eager to please. This is a slam dunk choice for an excellent stay for the value - you won't be sorry!
