“Nice stay but not for the price”
Reviewed September 8, 2013 via mobile

We paid $160 for our room which overall was nice. However I heard noise outside well into the evening and as late as 2:30 am. The hotel is on Main St in CF, the busiest party area in the town. The noise was people partying and motorcycles mostly. The shower was very small. I'd recommend a third floor room because we heard the people above us in the morning. Coffee was offered but no breakfast items. So I'd say the stay was a bit overpriced in comparison to other options.

We recently stayed at this beautiful, historic hotel for our anniversary. It is a beautiful old building filled with wonderful antiques. Our room was HUGE and also filled with antiques. But the best part of all, for me, was the fact that the bathroom was thoroughly modern - gorgeous marble, whirlpool tub, etc. The AC/Heating unit provided just the right amount of "white noise" that we didn't hear any noise from other guests walking up and down the hall, closing doors, etc. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone!

Room Tip: Our room was on the 3rd floor so we didn't have noise from people walking overhead, etc. There...

My family and I recently took a trip to Iowa to lend support to a local hero who lost his 4 limbs in service to his country and we stayed at the Black Hawk Hotel. I can state that it was a most memorable stay. The hotel is fabulous and the staff was top notch and could not be more friendly, the hotel itself was very unique, well appointed and probably the cleanest establishment I have ever visited. I would recommend this hotel to all it was just a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms.

Out of all the places to stay in Cedar Falls and Waterloo we came upon the Black Hawk Motel and gave it a shot. We were very pleased with everything we were offered, great room, friendly knowledgable service and staff. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to others.

We just stayed one night here at the Hotel. It is a beautiful old Hotel, and the rooms are beautifully renovated. We enjoyed the stay very much, and slept like babies, very comfy beds.
We decided to do the Breakfast Buffett they offer, and were extremely disappointed. Was probably the worst breakfast we have ever eaten. I would recommend the Hotel, but stay clear of the food.

We recently stayed overnight (8/10/13--My husband and me) in the Blackhawk Motorlodge room 515 on ground level. The website noted the motorlodge boasted modern amenities vs. the historic feel of the original hotel and they were right. The room was beautiful and sleek, just like the photos reflected. The outside of the motorlodge looked like a typical drive-up motel that had been nicely spruced up, but the details inside were amazing. From the comfortable king-sized platform bed to the overstuffed side chair, glass desk and lamps, this room was fit for king, a modern one that is. The beautifully painted colored walls (not white, which is typical) boasted the cool design of the patterned linens and the striking light fixtures throughout the space. Starbucks coffee and 4-cup pot sat waiting for us until morning along with some very thoughtful amenities that you always wish a hotel would offer but rarely does, such as: a flashlight and ear plugs in the same drawer as the ever-present bible. The bathroom sink, although it opened into the room as they usually do in a motorlodge-type room, had clean lines and stunning fixtures and on the countertop lay a dark washcloth with a small bottle of make-up remover and a lighted mirror with magnifier. How thoughtful! What woman wouldn't want that? The bathtub/toilet room offered delightful smelling shampoo and lotion along with the very atypical jar of bath salts and a rubber ducky, encouraging their guests to take a long, hot soak in the large tub. This hotel has thought of EVERYTHING! We really wished we could have spent the entire day lounging in our room. It was that nice. But, checkout time was 11:00am with a $25 per hour surcharge of overstaying your welcome. It's as if they KNOW you would never want to leave after being treated so lovely for such a decent price! Cedar Falls is a quaint town only two hours from our home, but if we can find the time, the Blackhawk Hotel/Motorlodge is definitely one we will revisit and definitely for longer than an overnight stay.

Room Tip: Ground level rooms are cool and quiet and gave us easy access to our vehicle.

We all really enjoyed our stay at the BlackHawk Hotel. They were very accomodating. They provided us a place to store our bikes which was great. It was very clean. We all liked that it was conveniently located to the bike trails and to many wonderful restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: The main floor gives you easier access. I would also recommend checking to make sure your room has...
