Staying nearby in Plainfield with family and they suggested a trip.
We had a wonderful couple of hours wandering the area and looking in the shops. Got a lot of cute little shops. Loved looking at the architecture of the old buildings. Wished some were being a little better preserved. Lots of places to eat. We chose to eat at lunch at Tony's pizzaria. I will write a review about that also.

Stayed in Cedar Falls this trip and was very impressed with how they've revitalized their Main Street. Just enough street parking for most times, with lots behind most buildings as well. They've either kept a lot of the original buildings or remodeled to look that way, and it's a good look and very inviting. Lots of good restaurants and shops within walking distance and the river runs parallel at one end of the street for scenic strolling. Good job Cedar Falls!

Has a nice old town feel with alot of really nice shops. Highly recommend stopping in on World's Window and the Popcorn stores. The Candy shop is also really nice too.

The Main Street is turn of the century building tastefully brought back with renovations and good landscaping. Other nearby by towns have tried to do it but they miss the mark compared to Cedar Falls. Nice shops, pubs, restaurants to browse through. Good parking too. Don't miss this

I was in town for a few days for business and decided to explore a bit. The area is typical Iowa and Waterloo is a waste of existence. However, this main street is quite the little gem here in Northern Iowa. The strip is well suited for pedestrian traffic and has ample parking. The street is lined with specialty shops, taverns, restaurants, sweetshops, etc. It was a nice little afternoon break; very pretty and ornate.
