Beautiful views of the Mississippi River and town of Bellevue. One can visit for 10 minutes or an hour.

We stopped here on the way through and spent an enjoyable afternoon hiking around the two units. The Nelson Unit is situated on top of a bluff overlooking Bellevue and the Mississippi River. It also has a nature center and a very large, well tended to butterfly garden. The Dyas Unit is located about 6 miles south and has a campground.

Bellevue State Park was a very small and disjointed state park. Between the 2 units, there were only 6 miles of trails. The campground was very small. It might be a nice stop for a day visit but not really worth camping there.

We like to hit some fund spots for weekend travel and this one is a favorite. We like the view of the river and lock and dam below. The town of Bellevue is nice as well with many ammenities.
Although we have stopped by this park many times, including in the winter our favorite time to visit is in the fall.

Beautifully situated high atop The bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. Great fall colors. There was no admission charge the day we were there. I'm not sure about peak times of the year.
