solid menu, can get a bit noisy as taverns do. good service. Had the filet the other night - excellent steak for around $15, actually a better piece of meat than I've had at a couple of the high priced steak restaurants in Indy. Also the vegetable beef soup was tasty and filling

We stopped in for a beer ( on tap, a local brew that was delicious) had the Cheese and Crackers. The cheese is excellent with beer..horseradish flavor!. After enjoying those decided to have another beer and supper...WHOA!! were we glad we did!! The filet was honestly one of the best I have had in a long time...grilled to perfection ( i like mine rare/med rare) yet was charred...the baked potato was piping hot and delicious too. The atmosphere added to it... it was a delight seeing people enjoying each other and saying hello . We then decided we had to have dessert....once again we made the right choice. Cinnamon ice cream on a steaming hot apple dumpling..we had dueling spoons.... We had to stroll around Zionsville after such an indulgence..but it was well worth it!!

The food is good and the feeling of a neighborhood bar is great. They have a hell of a tenderloin too. No kids allowed however, and that sucks. We have to get take out more times than I would like.

Its too bad its for 21+ because the food is great and the name lives up to its reputation as a hangout for locals with great food at reasonable prices, especially considering the location in downtown zionsville.

On Main Street in Zionsville, The Friendly Tavern is a great place for a family meal. Lots of stuff on the menu - I ordered the pork tenderloin that was a worthy presentation of the Indiana delicacy.
