Here's a diner within walking distance to Purdue University. Yes, its nothing fancy but very good sandwiches, breakfast and milkshakes. Triple XXX is part of the student experience and when alumni come back to town, it's one of their stops. They don't take credit cards, so be prepared.

During my 3-year postdoc, I practically made the XXX a home-away-from-home. Great pork tenderloin sandwiches and hamburgers. I was a regular and looked forward to coffee conversations with my friends and locals in the afternoon. It was near Purdue and was very convenient for me. I go back when I visit Purdue, but it isn't the same because my time as a regular has passed. The food is still good.

Such good food! I have always heard about the food, never have gone to eat... Boy was I mistaken! Great place, a little awkward to get to though. Our service was great and although a little pricey, I would go back!

Fab Little Drive-In Diner. Counter Seating Only. We had burgers and they were freshly ground and delicious. The XXX Root Beer was Ok (I like a head on my mug like Dog N Suds Root Beer which is creamier) Everybody's food looked tasty. Great mix of population from kid to oldster in a congenial atmosphere. Fun Experience!

We saw the billboards advertising XXX family Restaurant, and we were laughing about the idea that it was a family restaurant. We looked it up, and found it was listed as one of the stops for diners! Dives and Drive-ins, so we decided to stop. We both had the root beer, since that is their claim to fame, and it was good. My husband had the boilermaker Pete burger, and I had the Duane Somebody burger (it had peanut butter on it, and I decided to go for the novelty effect. Both of us enjoyed our burgers and crispy, hot fries. We couldn't believe how fast they were. They don't call their burgers "burgers", because they are ground sirloin, and I might have sensed a distinction more if I hadn't had the peanut butter on mine. It was delicious, just hid some of the other tastes. We loved that it was a tiny little diner, and you kind of interact with others. The people with the shakes across from us were very excited about their shakes, and they had obviously been there before. We were too full to try. Really fun experience. Beats other roadside options when you're traveling!
