My wife and I stopped here for lunch on our way across the country. Tasty food (I got the Duane Purvis peanut butter burger) and very good house-made root beer. Typical diner with set stools around a counter, staff was friendly and efficient. They have drive-in spots for cars, but no service until 5pm.

As a college student I love Triple XXX! The food is great, the service is quick, and prices are more than accommodating for any budget! Whether you're looking for a quick snack, a large meal, or an ice cream treat I would definitely recommend it!

My brother told my sister and I to stop here on our way home from Indy to Chicago so we decided to. It was a bit of a detour off 65. We had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated. I never saw the DDD episode in which it was featured in so I was surprised it was all counter service. I liked it though because it felt like a true diner that way. Almost all the seats were taken. My sister and I both ordered the regular burger with Miracle Whip on it. They were very good but nothing I haven't had before. The burger seemed similar to Schoop’s burgers in the Calumet region of Illinois and Indiana but not as crispy. The burger was very good though and I would go there if I lived in the area. The fries were just OK. We did not have the root beer that they are famous for. It is a cool, old school atmosphere. It was a fun stop overall.

I used to eat here 20 yrs. ago when visiting my friend who attended Purdue (it was affordable on a college student budget & food was good) so we decided to take the kids one day when we were in W. Lafayette. The diner is small and parking is limited but the atmosphere is vintage fun. Food was very average diner food, a bit on the greasy side, but somewhat expected in a diner. Root beer is very good, as they claim. I would have rated Triple XXX an average 3 stars if the value for the money factor had been better. My husband and I and our 2 children (ages 13 & 8) all got burgers and fries. The kids got root beer and the adults ordered water (which we were charged for - who still does that??). Our bill was almost $50! I am unsure where the other reivewers who are saying the prices are good usually eat, but if we're paying $50 for our meal, I don't want it to be at a diner! We can eat at Five Guys for $30 and the food is better. Also of note, this is a cash only business. But there is an ATM right outside in case you don't have cash (that's crazy in 2013!).
