“great burgers and root beer”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

stopped in here for lunch on a saturday. got a bert burger (basically a bacon cheese burger) which came with fries, both were delicious. my husband ordered some of their famous root beer which was fabulous, and i will definitely order some on our next visit- the one sip he shared with me was not enough! they were quite busy while we were there, but the food came quickly.

there are a couple of downsides. this restaurant only accepts cash (they do have an atm inside), and it was very crowded. we ended up eating outside at one of their 2 picnic tables.

I eat here usually about 3 days a week.
Atmosphere, food and all the wait staff are all the best.
First ate here in college at Purdue in the 70's. Moved to the area with my family in 1998.

“Had to eat here after passing it so many times”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

Thinking that the Purdue grad might be leaving the area, we stopped by just this once. I have never seen a bar wiggle around a room with so many stools to it. It reminded me of when I was a car hop in the 60's. I ordered what I thought was a tenderloin, but I'll have to look at that menu again. I swear it was a Pete's Pride fritter from Muncie.... and it could have been a Purdue Pete's fritter. Who knows? Got it with pickles and mustard. The other two got hamburgers. The grad had peanut butter on his. Want a bite? No....... I ate a few of their fries and drank my root beer from a mug. Ahhh. The Triple X adventure. (They even sell Root Beer Jelly.) By the way, the grad got a job at.....ta da......Purdue. So we can have even more adventures.

“Unique”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

Burgers are different, but definitely not the best. I had the Leroy Loin and it was a deep fried pork tenderloin burger. The fries are pretty decent. The root beer is a must get as it is their specialty. Not as sweet as the generic brands.

“It Is Ok”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

The place is just ok. I say this as someone who grew up in the area and graduated from Purdue. I am not sure why the Food Network decided to cover the place on one of their shows. The food is not bad, just not fantastic. I know that they used to only take cash. I cant remember if cards were accepted last time that I was there or not.
