“4 Days Not Enough”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Just arrived home from a 4 day stay at the Mansion. The hosts and care givers, Jenny and Steve are so good at what they do, they become like a part of your family. The owners, Lisa and Jerry, have discovered wonderful people to take care of their property and its guests. The property is amazing with bedrooms so historical but absolutely comfortable that I could move in tomorrow. Why would anyone stay in a motel/hotel with this option available? We can hardly wait to get back this spring or summer to add the enjoyment of all the trees in bloom and the many wineries in the area. The breakfast, cookies and hot coffee in the morning were wonderful. The only negative thing was having to leave.

Room Tip: The Schenck suite and Eugenia and Wiseman rooms were perfect.

This is a gorgeous place to stay. We spent the weekend with a our ladies prayer group and had an amazing time. The staff was wonderful and made the most amazing breakfast for us! I will be taking my husband back for a weekend getaway. The location is also close to Madison Indiana and we made a day there of shopping. The place was very clean and the beds were comfortable. A very beautiful and amazing place!

We chose the Schenck Mansion because of its appearance, but noticed it had excellent reviews. It totally exceeded our expectations. The photos don't begin to do it justice. We were greeted by our friendly host while still standing in awe in the drive. A number of deer had been only slightly startled by our arrival. Then we were given a full tour with a detailed history of the utterly beautiful home. The photos look a bit cold and sterile but the place is not like that at all. This unique bit of history has been beautifully restored with loving attention to detail. Steve and Jenny were delightful and our room was gorgeous. The fire was lit and a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies appeared. We sat on rocking chairs on one of the nearby porches before retiring to our elegant yet cozy room. The beds and linens were luscious. We can't wait to return.

To the Owners: We stayed with you once before and loved it!!!!! This time we wanted to see it at Christmas time, and we surely weren't disappointed! Attention was given to each room, I took pictures, and was just in awe of it all. Steve and Jenny were a total delight!!!!! Precious couple, who took excellent care of us all. There were three of us couples, and it was totally delightful. Breakfast was WONDEROUS!!!! Jenny even made us cookies and a fresh pot of coffee, unpon our arrival, and invited us to look around, and we did. We had supper out, and when we got "home", all the lights were on, in the windows and Christmas trees, a pure delight. Such a feeling of PEACE there, we all felt it. Steve ad Jenny are a pure delight to us all.....Can't wait to come back! Love John and Cindi

Room Tip: Any room is wonderful, they have gas fireplaces in most of the rooms, the beds are so comfortable, a...

What a relaxing place this wonderful B&B was. Everything about our stay was enjoyable...from sharing the joy of this historic treasure with other guest, to watching deer right outside of your windows while sitting in an antique chair. We were made to feel right at home. Owners were awesome, breakfast was plentiful, price was great.

We stayed at the Mansion for the first time in October 2012. The place is very beautiful, and the rooms very spacious. Ours even had a working gas fireplace, which I understood that not all of the fireplaces work. Our complaint was that each door has a window above it that lets light in from the hallway and kept us up at night. When asked we were told that the light must stay on during the night. A simple curtain would solve this problem, however none of the other reviews mention it. Also the bathtub/shower is so narrow it made showering very awkward. There was also noise from the adjoining room that kept us up around midnight one night. I guess that's what you run into sometimes at a B&B. Breakfast was good, as well as the nightly cookies. Warm sodas were also set out each night with a bucket of ice. Very tiny town with very little to do if you require shopping or entertainment. The owners were out of town while we were there, however returned as we were leaving our last morning. I would loved to have shared out thoughts with her, but was not asked upon checking out how our stay was or if everything was okay with our stay as is typical.

Room Tip: All rooms had a beautiful view. Corinnes room has a working gas fireplace.

We stayed at the Schenck Mansion for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time and stayed in the biggest suite we have ever had at a B&B. We had three different rooms, a bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. It was wonderfully relaxing. Breakfast was delicious and just right.
