Description: Don Quijote Restaurant, the heart of Spain in the heart of Valparaiso. We have been ahead of the "Tapas" trend for the last 26 years!! Serving Spanish cuisine since 1985 and featuring over two dozen different tapas, including, Octopus, Galician style meat pastries and the traditional "Tortilla Espanola", Spanish potato omelet. Our menu doesn"t stop there, but goes on to feature an array of tantalizing entrees, from fresh seafood, like Swordfish and Salmon to succulent Castilian style roast Lamb. The food is sure to please and fortify any traveler who might be roming the countryside. The National dish of Spain is the Paella, and we offer four different versions: Marinera, Vegetarian, Black and Valenciana. Delicious Homemade desserts round out our extensive menu. Our decor, complete with street lamps an a fountain, will transport you, to any out door cafe in Spain. "INDIANA'S ONLY SPANISH RESTAURANT"

“Love this place for many reasons.”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

This is a favorite restaurant in Valparaiso, even though I don't get to eat out much. As a vegetarian, I am more limited on the menu choices, but Carlos makes a mean veg paella! You just have to ask for it. The Portuguese salad and gazpacho are other favorites. Great food, great wine, and hospitality second to none. The proprietor has endless energy, is so supportive of the community and not-for-profits in the sincerest of ways, and is passionate about sharing information about Spanish food and culture. I love supporting such an establishment, and wish I could go there more often. The restaurant itself captures a little slice of Spain with murals, lighting, etc. Have eaten there many times over many years and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend.

“Nice Change”
Reviewed April 15, 2014 via mobile

Its Spanish not Mexican, so don't think tacos. Very flavorful food and variety. Carlos (owner) is first class human being. Visits with everyone in his restaurant like old friends.feels like you travelled far but yet close to home.

“Great Spanish family restaurant”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

It seems like we ended up trying nearly the whole tapas menu.

Good tapas is hard to come and this was good tapas.

The service is welcoming and the ambience relaxed.

A definite Indiana Dunes must do.

“We were so pleased with this restaurant - food AND service!!”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

From the moment we walked into this restaurant, our experience was top notch, beyond what we ever expected. Recommended by owners of the bed and breakfast that we stayed at. My husband had the pan-fried sea bass and it was amazing. The flan was TO DIE FOR. And the port dessert wine afterwards just topped off what will be one of our best restaurant experiences that we have not stopped talking about since! Can't wait to return!

“Great Spanish Restaurant in Valpariso”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

When you enter the restaurant the murals make it look like a Spanish Courtyard with lovely set tables and background music. We arrived early (3AM) so we sat down and ordered a half pitcher of limonata (white sangria with lemon-lime and peaches) which was very good. My wife wanted to try the tapas, so she ordered the Empanada (very good) and the Pinchos Morunos which we both tried and agreed it was delicious. As for me, I tried the special: Mahi Mahi with Salmon, sauteed veggies and potatoes. I asked the server for blackened fish and rice as substitute and she was more that happy to oblige. My fish dinner was wonderful with flavors that satisfied my taste buds. Also try the Ensalada (red skinned potatoes in a garlic oil/green bell pepper dressing). After we finished it I placed my bread in the oil. Great service & food.
