“How wonderfully relaxing!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

We stay at a differently hotel every week for the last 2 years. Our client booked the room at the Oakwood which was within 5 minutes of where we were working. It was absolutely stunning! We stay in the chain hotels mostly and have had many good views. This was spectacular! I do believe that we spent more time outside than inside.
In the mornings, it was so hard to make myself leave to go to work. I had told our client that we all should have met at the Oakwood instead of the windowless conference room.

The food is wonderful! The seafood basket had a bit more black pepper in the breading than what I like but was cooked perfectly. I absolutely loved the Spinach salad. I have never had one with bananas in it. I had it as made with the peanut sauce and then another one with the apple cider vinagrette. They were both amazing! We spent 3 nights there and I cannot wait to go back.

The bartenders are very friendly and attentive. The wait staff does a good job. I wandered down on Tuesday morning needing something caffienated in a big way! I aske if I could get a Diet Coke and they wasted no time accommodating me. It was so very appreciated.

We have stayed in the newly renovated and managed hotel on beautiful Lake Wawasee and have nothing but compliments for the staff, the dining room, the bar and the park in general. Everyone goes out of their way to make our stay wonderful. The dining room and the Backporch are outstanding choices for eating. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. I question why there are no longer exhaust fans in the bathrooms but understand that the reason has to do with the new heating and cooling units. I wonder why but the compliments overshadow that one complaint.

We stayed here on a busy weekend (Labor Day) Friday and Saturday night. The hotel is very nice, rooms are nice, beds were very comfortable. The food in the restaurant is amazing. There were a few things that need some work we were in a room next to the game room so all noise from the game room can be heard in our room (We didn't have children with us) but that quieted down after 11:30 game room closes at 11:00 but parents still comming to get kids till 11:30. The same night there were children running up and down the hallway at 2:30 in the morning! When I called the front desk to inform them the girl said "I know I've told them once the were running up and down the stairs." So where were the parents these were young children! The room is a little bright there are blinds but no curtains to keep the light out in the morning or the lights from the building at night. There was a seafood boil and bands all day Saturday. Very good food and good bands playing. Pour planning a lot of employees just standing around no one was doing anything there were dirty tables and no servers. Then we paid 5$ each to get in and there were no tables to sit at they were all reserved? Why did we pay 5$ each to get in. The restaurants are not open for any other foods during the event. We wanted to try the pizza at the restaurant and since it wasn't open thought we would try another local pizza. When we asked the front desk about pizza he said "that would be a slap in the face to the hotel restaurant" (the restaurant wasn't serving any other foods because of the cook out and seafood boil.) we did go out and get pizza at the frog tavern a very good pizza by the way. We did go listen to the bands and loved the music. Overall the resort stay was nice. We had a good time for our money. There is just some poor management issues that need to be addresses to make the stay exceptional.

I have nothing but raving reviews about Oakwood resort and the restaurants connected. I can tell you that my husband and I have never once been disappointed. Not only did they utilize the amazing location by creating an outdoor dinning area but they also have an upscale restaurant that is indoors with gorgeous views of the lake. You have the option of a casual dining environment or an elegant dining experience. The “Back Porch” gives you the opportunity to breathe in the fresh air while watching boats full of people enjoying their time on the lake. The “Pier” is a classy indoor dining atmosphere while still getting the full views of Lake Wawasee. The food is reasonably priced and is always delicious.

We visit Oakwood at least once a week- whether we are sitting at the bar enjoying local beers or dining together (indoor or outdoor) we are astounded by the courteous staff members who are so attentive to our needs and wants.
I could continue on about the waiters/waitresses and bartenders in regards to their attentiveness but the service is just as fabulous. We have never been left waiting or had to remind our servers to bring us what we had already asked for. These restaurants are the place to go for an evening out or an afternoon lunch.

Living in the area for many years has given us the opportunity to watch Oakwood being restored and “revamped.” I have to be honest when I say whoever was the vision behind this incredible place knew exactly what they were doing. There is no other restaurant or resort that could possibly compete with Oakwood. The rooms are styled perfectly for the location and atmosphere surrounding. This is exactly what Syracuse needed and deserved.

Oakwood gives you the opportunity to relax and understand why “Life is better at the lake.”

Unfortunately the experience is not what it used to be. I used to love to go there for the peace and tranquility. But now that they've added alcohol and live bands, it's just a different experience than it was. We stayed in one of the vacation houses this time - poorly supplied, smelled very musty, and was right by the "Back Porch" restaurant which every night completely ignored the grounds own stated "quiet" hours with live music often till 1:00 am

Stayed three nights here. Rooms were very nice. Lobby and grounds are beautiful. Just a few glitches. The room was very chilly. No way to change that. Thermostat didn't work. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. The cable TV selections were crazy...no CNN...no ESPN. Have to pay for ice. No hotel information anywhere. Hopefully, once they are open longer, things will get better.
