“Amazing location”

The hostel in Palomino was truly impressive - well kept grounds, beautiful pool, nice rooms, and only a 30 second walk to the beach. We stayed in one of the private rooms and it felt like a luxury hotel more than a hostel. We would definitely recommend staying at the Dreamer.

Excellent Hostel, great atmosphere, very close to the beach (100 Yards), has its own private pool. Very clean and the staff is very kind and helpful.

It has Wifi, Bar, Pool, Billiards, Beach Volley court......very big comfy rooms.

Dont forget the view of the Sierra Nevada early in the morning.

Will surely go back.

Room Tip: All rooms are big....no comment

An oasis of calm & tranquility in Palomino, amidst a beautiful backdrop of the snowcapped Sierra Nevada and next to Palomino beach, what could be better or a more idyllic location for a hostel, if it wasn't for the dorm rooms you would think this was a hotel resort.

An excellent hostel amidst a tropical garden setting which is great to watch the humming birds & butterflies, the staff are friendly & attentive and the place clean. Dorms are decent size and good value although it would be nice to have A/C instead of the small oscillating fan, as with most beach accommodation don't expect hot water in the showers but cool water is a relief from the heat.

Good swimming pool, and a bar with 'Happy Hour' with a relaxed vibe rather than raucaus partying. The Wifi wasn't working at the time I stayed but guests could use the satellite internet for free. Small gripe is there is no kitchen for guest use, only a restaurant serving an adequate menu selection.

Besides lazing on one of Colombia's best beaches on the Caribbean coast, try river tubing, and tours to Cabo de la Vela & Punta Gallinas are cheaper to book here than in Riohacha.

Palomino itself is not particularly nice, but Palomino beach is wonderful! A well kept secret!

The hostel is beautifully designed with private rooms or dorms. The pool is perfect as the sea can be too rough to swim in at times. The bar area is social and a great way to meet other travellers. The food is delicious!

The beach is empty apart from the small gaggle of people near the bar on the beach front.

We went tubing, which sounds like an extreme sport but was actually one of the most peaceful and beautiful experiences of my life. You hire a tube from the entrance of the hostel, then a motors I drives you up as far as it can into the mountain. From there a thirty minute hike (take sandals or flip flops) up and then down again until you reach the river bank. We met local Wayuu tribespeople on our hike. Amazing. Then you sit in your tube, listen to the wonderful noises of nature, admire her beauty, and eventually you arrive at the beach.

Everyone speaks Spanish and English in the reception and bar. The cooks are really friendly, as are the cleaners.

We will definitely be coming back.

We were in a private room with ensuite bath. It was 110,000 off-season. The room was large and nice but this is pretty expensive for a hostel. There are properties on the dirt road that leads to the Dreamer offering rooms for 30,000 per night, and one of the places offered the room with air conditioning for this price. Finca Escondido also has rooms for 70,000 and 90,000. There is a reason The Dreamer asks if you can pay for the room upon check-in versus at check-out. The property is kept very well and it is more like a luxury resort than a hostel. One other comment is that a couple people at the front desk were extremely unhelpful. For the price they are charging, I would have expected better service. Also, the food at the place is not great. Go to the other restaurants on the beach.
