“Still Hanging On”

We have stayed here quite a few times over the past 10 years and there's a
downward trend in overall quality.
This place has a great location on Route 933. It's close to everything, Notre Dame, and downtown South Bend, and lots of restaurants.
There has not been any significant upgrades in a long time. The carpet is old and worn, as is the furniture. The commode was about to come apart.
They have a minimum breakfast of juice, cereal, waffles, biscuits and gravy, and yogurt.
Joe, our front desk clerk was very helpful.
A good deal would be a Hotwire rate for this property. Paying Rack rate here is no bargain.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the quality of our hotel. I would like to inform you that we will be having some renovations to the hotel in the next upcoming months. We are working on a brand new pool area as well as installing new carpet, new lounge chairs, and bed spreads to name a few changes.

This hotel recently changed brands and has undergone some significant improvements. The lobby is attractive and spacious. The rooms are decent sized and nicely decorated. My bed was very comfortable and I slept we'll.

The only negative we experienced is that the walls are very thin and you do hear quite a bit of conversations, tv, etc from the hallway and neighboring rooms.

Breakfast was average or slightly above with standard bagels/toast, waffle iron, and a hot item (biscuits and gravy this morning).

Didn't get a chance to try the pool or fitness area.

My family recently spent one night here during Notre Dame's graduation weekend. This is an older hotel, but it has been well maintained and is clean. Our room was very quiet, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The morning breakfast was fine. The real standout was the lady behind the counter when we checked in; she was professional and kind. We have stayed in many South Bend hotels during my daughter's four years at ND, and this hotel is one better.

Pool is DISGUSTING, with mold, rust, water dripping from ceilings and doorways, and exterior doors not secured---the lock was broken off one door, the other, a double door was broken off the frame at the hinges, leaving an opening big enough for a person to get in, not to mention varmints! Reminded me of movies of the Soviet era... Smeared (???) bathroom wall. The toilet rocked, not in a cool way, but back and forth. Very nasty. Speaking of nasty, did I mention the large false finger nail that was perched between top mattress and box spring?! .Wi-fi spotty in the evening, (we tried both our laptops) and non-existent in the morning, though it "was working fine" for the girl at the front desk.: No access to plates, silverware etc. in the evening, and "pantry" was usually unmanned. Very poor selection of food for breakfast. No butter, just "spread".. (Waffles were ok.). If only one could stay the night in the front entry way - it seems to be the only place the owners are spending their money. Kind of lull you into a false security of thinking the place might actually be nice.
I've enjoyed other of the many hotels in this ideally located area (for Notre Dame or South Bend events) and this was the only bad experience.

I would like to assure you that the concerns you‘ve raided have been addressed and the appropriate action has been taken.

IMPORTANT ANOUNCEMENT:
I would also like to let you know that the pool area is being prepared for a complete renovation. This will be taking place within the next few weeks. We will be installing a brand new dehumidification system, re-opening the public restrooms, completely repainting the ceiling and walls, plus various other things.

I needed an inexpensive hotel for one night before an early morning flight out of South Bend. The former Jameson Inn now owned by Quality Inn hotels was a great choice!
I was nervous about booking a hotel for $26 on Hotwire with a coupon but my fears were unwarranted. When driving through South Bend on 31, the southern area is a bit questionable but where this hotel is located is just shy of the tollway and the area is much better. It is very near to Notre Dame. Hotel check in was swift and the room was clean and included two beds, a flat screen TV, microwave and refrigerator. The sink area is located outside the bathroom which helps when multiple people are getting ready for the day. The lobby area is spacious and upstairs there are conference rooms and seating areas. There is a computer and printer in the lobby for guests to use and free WiFi throughout the hotel. There is a fitness room with a few machines and an indoor pool and hot tub. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and even crossing 31 on foot for dinner was not a problem. The breakfast is mostly carbs but they did say that they are going to be changing that up soon adding yogurts and boiled eggs. Also, if you let them know in advance, they said they would supply gluten free items for your stay. As of now, there was fruit, three types of juices, waffles, toast, pastries and cereal.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel as a low-cost but nice choice in the area. It was only five miles from the airport.

I recently stayed at the Quality Inn South Bend Sunday-Friday for a number of months while working on a long-term project in-town. I found the room more than adequate for my needs, and the staff were both helpful and friendly. I will stay here again if I ever return to South Bend.
