Owner description: Renowned for its rich athletic tradition, the university is a beautiful place to visit, with such religious attractions as the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, the park-like setting of its huge stadium and the abundant artwork.

The University itself is beautiful and worth the tour. But the whole experience was the best of all our college tours. We have been to Ivy league, Boston area, south and west. This was the most amazing.

Stopped by University of Notre Dame to visit our niece. She took us on a tour of the campus. Very beautiful. Very well maintained landscaping. The cathedral was absolutely gorgeous and a must-see. Also interesting to see is their Heisman Trophy collection awarded to pas students. If you're in the area, stop by and take a stroll around campus.

Whenever we travel to Indiana, we always stop at the University of Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish campus is truly beautiful. The church's golden dome as well as the church itself is amazing. The grounds are beautiful. The stadium was redone a couple of years ago, and it shows. It holds over 80,000 fans, and every seat is filled for all the football games. There are statues of the head coaches all around the stadium. Lots of history on the grounds of this university!!

The grounds were very peaceful to walk around while classes were not in session. There is quite a bit to see. The only issue was that there were several trash cans that were overflowing.

There are separate tours for prospective undergrad students versus others who just want to tour the campus. As far as I know, prospective grad students would need to contact their department, as the reserved tours are geared toward undergraduate students only. You have to reserve the tour for prospective students ahead of time, but you can just show up to the Eck Visitors Center for one of the other tour times. It takes about 1.5 hours (about an hour in the winter when it's cold). I am a future grad student and found the guided campus tours, put on by the visitor's center, to be very interesting. It does not go into the stadium though (that's a separate tour). I've copied the times below.
-January through March: 1 p.m.
-April through May: 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
-June through mid-August: 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
-Mid-August through December: 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
-Home Football Fridays: 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.
*Tours can only enter the Basilica of the Sacred Heart from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. from Monday through Friday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
