“Great place for a nice dinner”
Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed a great steak dinner with our son who appreciated a break from dining hall food. The flavors are spot in and dinners well presented. They are still working out a few kinks getting people seated and finding the bottle of wine we ordered. We were there on a weds night. Very relaxing and enjoyable - right in the middle of campus. We loved it. We will be back.

Had a great meal, late, and absolutely loved the attentiveness and graciousness of the staff. Although they were about to close, they were happy to serve our party. I mentioned to the server how much I liked one part of my dish, and he told the chef, then brought me an extra side... no charge. The food was fantastic! Fresh, gourmet, and expertly prepared. I have never had risotto that was "PERFECT" until this meal - not too al dente, not too mushy, just right.
Great wine list, lovely dining room, truly a special place to celebrate family, traditions and whatever else brings you to Notre Dame.

“Re-opening kinks but soon to be very good again.”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Sorin's just recently re-opened. We went there for lunch and enjoyed the beautiful remodeling job done to the lobby of the Morris Inn and the fantastic creation of Rohr's Pub - they did a real nice job. Sorin's itself was not changed much but looks fresh and, thankfully, is still classy-casual and quietly genteel.
The food was good but not great - they have to work out some kinks and I know they will. The gumbo was lukewarm. The French dip used something like ground beef and tasted like hamburger. Some menu items on the dinner menu looked good, others misplaced, but I'm sure they'll work all that out as well as bring back some of the familiar offerings like chicken noodle soup and wedge salads that were so popular because they were so good.
For dessert the apple tart and the French toast with bananas foster were outstanding.
This might seem like a small thing but so many restaurants don't quite get it right - the coffee is very good at Sorin's.
The ambiance is great. The service was friendly and enjoyable.
Parking is now via free valet (except for tip) and covered portico - very nice.
I'm looking forward to going back in a few weeks to take friends...heck, I might have to go back sooner just to enjoy Rohr's.

Food good, but not excellent. Portions rather small. Atmosphere nice - quiet. Limited menu. Rather pricy.

The atmosphere is very calm, the menu varies and service is excellent! Sorin's is a great choice for lunch as well.
