suspected the bathroom wasn't cleaned the first night so made special notice of some issues and they still weren't cleaned after the second and third nights. (hair and used bar of soap by the drain in tub-soap build-up and stain on stool where we left our used wash cloths- counter in bathroom had water spots, etc.) It didn't look like they vacuumed also, but that was maybe nit picking after the bathroom experience. The rest was acceptable to good but I didn't think it deserved any more than 3 stars

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your valuable feedback. We want to apologize for not meeting your expectations regarding the cleanliness of our rooms and the inconveniences you experienced. Walking into an unclean bathroom does not meet our expectations and never want to provide anything less. Please be assured we have shared your comments with our entire staff in order to make them aware of the issue and take steps to further prevent this issue. Again, I apologize and we hope to see you in the near future.

We went to Shipshwanna for a mini vacation and we got the package with the Theater/dinner/breakfast. From the customer service, to the play, to the food it was all excellent. Difinitley will return again.

Room Tip: Do the package deal they offer- it was awesome!

I am here right now. It is a huge place and the rooms themselves are nice. We are in a room that has a queen bed and a king bed. There is a wall between the 2 beds but it is not a full wall as it does not go to the opposite wall nor to the ceiling. It DOES however, go far enough to make the ONE TV in the room unwatchable from the queen bed. That is a drawback. You also can't really see the king bed people unless you sit in the chair, which is awkward. There isn't really adequate room for the wall either as you end up having to kind of "suck it in" as you are walking to the bed between the bed and the wall. On the way to our room we passed signs that said "water park" so we were kind of jazzed about that bug when we called the desk to ask where exactly it is tl the desk clerk said it is being built. My guess is that once that amenity is available the room rates will increase dramatically here. Lastly, our door would not lock properly. I sent my son down to tell them, fully expecting them to apologize and put us in a different room (the hotel is not full), but instead, the girl at the desk told my son she would come d down because "she knew how to get it to work." She took forever to come and by that time my son had kind of screwed in a bolt on the plate and figured out the way to pull the door up while slamming it to get it lined up to latch. Should you really HAVE to perform maintenance on your OWN room?

Very clean and neat hotel located close to flea market and other shopping.
Plenty of free parking.
Free breakfast was outstanding.
Staff was polite and accommodating.
Large double rooms would easily sleep four comfortably.

There aren't a lot of choices in Shipshewana, this is probably the best. The public areas looked nice and were roomy & spacious, so if you wanted to get together to play a board game or cards you could easily find room to do so. Rooms are typical, I would compare to a Hampton Inn or Comfort Inn. Staff was friendly You do have to sign a $250 waiver when you check in for if you smoke or bring a pet into your room so obviously they are serious about these 2 issues. There wasn't a restaurant there but an ice cream parlor. Breakfast was included. Most of it was pretty good, but the powdered scrambled eggs cut into squares was not edible. They are set up to cater to large groups, but none were there when we were.

There really isn't a lot to do in the area so I wouldn't spend more than one or 2 nights in the area unless you just want to chill in your room or take a scenic drive. There are some shops, most of which sold your typical tourist fare. Restaurants are in short supply and very base grade. We actually went out of town 30 minutes and there still were almost no restaurants available. I would suggest going on a Buggly Lane Tour and spending time at the museum, both which really give you an education into the Amish & Mennonite. I am glad we went to the area, but don't think I would return.

Room Tip: It is very large, so ask for a room near the main area or the elevator if walking is an issue.

I stayed at the Blue Gate Garden Inn from October 8-10. The Riegseckers recently purchased this hotel and are making changes daily to bring it up to their high standards. Work has just started on a new indoor pool and outdoor patio with fire pit that should be ready in 2014. Breakfast is included in your room rate and is better than the other hotels in the area. The old water park is going to be replaced with a theatre that will host many of the concerts they offer throughout the year. That will probably be completed in 2015. The Riegseckers are at the property daily to make sure everything is running well and progress is being made. Christmas lights were being put up and hallway carpets being cleaned during our visit. I definitely recommend staying here as it is so close to everything in Shipshewana and it will be exciting to see the hotel amenities soar!
