Built to reflect the surrounding community, the Blue Gate resembles a rambling white farmhouse, similar to those that dot the surrounding Amish coutnryside. An award winning restaurant serving a world famous Family-style meal that features pressure fried chicken and 3 other meats, real mashed potatoes, Amish noodles, plus lots of other sides and 25 varieties of pies to choose from

Good fried chicken and very tasty desserts to choose from. We had the apple dumpling with cinnamon ice cream and it was delicious! The peanut butter that is on every table is ADDICTIVE! They sell it in the back bakery if you desire to take some home. Neat place.

“Disappointed.”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

6-11-14 First of all let me say the service was great. Couldn't have asked for better wait staff. They were very cordial and always kept our drinks refilled, one was being trained. The coffee was excellent. My husband and I ordered the fried chicken with two sides. Our chicken took 45 minutes to be served. It was hot when it arrived, but over done and crispy to the point you almost couldn't bite though the coating. Too salty...that was the only flavor. I love salt, but this was too much. The poor girls waiting on our table kept apologizing about our wait time and our food quality. We ordered the chicken and noodles, which evidently had been plated while waiting for the chicken to finish because they were cold and mushy. Yuck. The green beans were warm, but totally tasted like the frozen green beans they were. We were so disappointed. The servers knew. They could tell the noodles were like almost like pudding because that's how they were served. When they picked up our plates they commented on the fact we didn't eat much...so they knew. We told them about the food quality, but they did nothing about it. NEVER AGAIN. Will go to Das Dutchmann next time. Of well, lesson learned. We went to a show locally, and the people next to us had a similar experience.

“Ok food great pies!”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

The food is a bit pricy and the side dishes are rather bland. The ham and chicken are very good although a little on the salty side. The beef was just ok. The best part of dinner was the dessert! Yummy home made pie! My big complaint was they were out of the strawberry rhubarb!

“YUM :)”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

We had the family style meal & the food was amazing. It's served to you in dishes just like sitting at the table eating with the whole family. We had salad, bread, fried chicken, ham, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, noodles & pie for dessert. Best fried chicken ever...I loved the dressing & husband loved the noodles. After eating we went to the bakery & purchased some items. The restaurant is large & beautifully decorated inside & out. We also sat out on the front porch & relaxed...had a great meal & time...

“dinner after the theater”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

we had our dinner after the theater production of Half Stitched. The service was great and the food was excellent. It was very busy, but the wait staff was on top of things and did an excellent job. Our waiter, Chase, was a new server and did a great job.
