The Dutch Creek Farm was amazing! My son (13) and I took the wagon ride through the animal park. The tour guide was the Amish grandfather, and he was very hospitable. We climbed aboard the wagon, pulled by two mares with their colts following along for the tour.
Our first stop was the camels, where we were handed a bucket of feed. The camels stuck their heads over the fence and gobbled up the food. Next, we fed the elk, and were able to touch their antlers. Deer soon surrounded the wagon; a large buck, with several doe. We fed the deer for quite some time, and learned they would follow for most of the tour. Continuing on past the white tail bucks, and does with fawns, and into the main field.
Once we entered the main field, the animals raced to the wagon to begin the feeding frenzy. Our open air covered wagon was soon surrounded by an unusual variety of animals gathering for the treats. We fed the yak, zebra, longhorn steer, camel, goats, buffalo, and more, as they reached their necks into the wagon. The animals seemed used to people, the feeding routine, and appeared comfortable with being petted. This was amazing, our wagon was surrounded by animals. Our wagon continued through the field, making a few more stops along the way, with the animals following behind.
After the wagon tour ended, we toured the petting area. We entered the pen with a doe and two fawns, and fed the deer carrots and marshmellows.
I highly recommend this trip. We had a great time, and can't wait to go back.
