It's great to walk into this place and have everyone turn to see who just walked in. And the disappointment on their faces when they realize they don't know you and that you won't be joining their group. But, being from a small town myself, I still feel right at home. It's fun to listen in on the gossip and be waited on by a supper friendly staff.

The food is what you'd expect but I wouldn't want it any other way. Please tip generously and come back. Someday you may even join in on the conversation... Bball, politics, weather, farm crop, etc.

Chaperrall is a staple part of Shelbyville, it has been here for many years with the same owner. They have wonderful food, they have a buffet and the prices are great. I usually have breakfast here, but have had the buffet as well, food is great, service is great and I love Shirley the owner.

Chaperral has been around for a long time, and it is a old-timey diner. They have a breakfast buffet on weekends. It is passable, but not great. They have a standard set of breakfast options, including biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, eggs and egg-substitutes, French toast sticks, and hash. Most of my visits have been nearing noon, and they have their salad bar open, too. It's small, but not bad. It is small, family place, and the mother/daughter team are the servers/cashiers.
