“Worth checking out.”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

This free museum recently moved to a new location and some items are still in storage. It is worth stopping to check out the history of Santa Claus, Indiana. It is a small museum, but has some really touching stories about the people who were integral in the creation of the town and of Holiday World.

There are old school desks where children are encouraged to sit and write a letter to Santa. The staff member that was there when we stopped was very personable and knowledgeable.

“Nice facility with a nice little collection...”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

The Santa Museum was probably the best thing in Santa Claus, IN that we got to see. It is a history of the city and you get to learn about how the name changed from Santa Fe, IN to Santa Claus and about Jim Yelling who was the "Santa" of Santa Claus. There are several letter displays from letters that children had written to Santa and mailed to the town from years past. CHildren can write letters to santa in old school desks and mail them at the museum. This museum is free and relies on donations. Several big named celebrities like John Ritter, Bette Davis and Barry Manilow have also visited the town and donated dollars to the museum. There is a big display of all the celebrities who have visited. It was a neat stop.
