Best place near Holiday World, but there aren’t many good spots to stay within 15-20 minutes of one of our favorite theme parks. We needed a clean blanket and they brought a comforter bc they were out of blankets. The room was mostly clean, but could use some detail work. Title says it, not bad, not great.

We just came recently came back from Santa Claus where we booked a 5 night vacation. We ended up leaving after 3 nights as we ran out of things to do. The lodge itself is fine, very clean, very friendly staff. The restaurant leaves much to be desired. $9.99 per person breakfast buffet for food that looked dried out and appeared to be sitting there for a long time.

Dining in Santa Claus is terrible. Your options are the hotel, which just read the previous paragraph regarding breakfast. The kids took one look at the dinner buffet and wanted to leave. Way overpriced for what they offered. There are also a few places in town, but if you actually decide to go in after seeing the rundown condition of the buildings, just read the reviews and you'll change your mind.

Or you can drive 20 minutes to the Dennys or Wendys, or 45 minutes to the next closet town where there are some options, which is what we did for every meal.

Don't be fooled by the "54 things to do in Santa Claus" website. Be sure to read the small print and you'll see alot of this stuff is seasonal, or an hour away, or stuff that is closed. The mini-golf course was closed indefinitely because we were told it was badly in need of painting. The 8-feet of in-lining offered at the lodge was never opened until we were checking out.

And this place called Frosty's, (apparently THE place to be in this town) had the least friendly staff I've ever seen. We came in, sat down, ordered and ate, and never got any kind of greeting, or "hi my name is:, or "thank you come again". They clearly were not happy that they were there, or maybe that we were there.

Holiday World was certainly worth going to. It was as advertised, very clean, friendly staff, food was good, both park and waterpark were terrific.

Santa Claus is certainly worth considering for a vacation spot, just do some research and know what you're getting before you go. AND EAT ALOT BEFORE YOU GO!!!

There is not much to choose from when you are staying near the park, so they kind of have you. Hotel shows wear and is just basic at best. Probably the best thing about it was plenty of towels. If I had to do over, I would drive back to a chain hotel near the interstate. Better accommodations available at a competitive price. Do not plan on eating meals at hotel, would not recommend the restaurant for breakfast or dinner. Also WiFi was out during stay there.

My husband and I along with another couple stayed here one night since we were going to Holiday World. I agree with some of the other reviews. The rooms could use a little updating and maintenance needs to be more diligent. The water in our sink would not turn off unless you messed with the handle and got it just right. Our friends room had a funky smell that was attributed to the water pan for the air conditioner not being emptied. I thought the bed was very comfortable however. And I felt that the place was clean. Staff was very friendly also. They had nice pool and hot tub but we did not use them.

My grandson and I stayed at Santa's Lodge for 2 nights for our first trip to Holiday World. Although the staff was very friendly, it was very outdated and could use better housekeeping. I felt it was overpriced for what it had to offer. I now know there are other places in close proximity should I go back to that area.
