Upon arrival, Santa's Lodge was very clean and neat on the outside and our room was clean with updated furniture and bedding. The staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant. You could see Holiday World from the hotel and our kids really enjoyed Frosty's. We would definetly stay again!

Upon arriving at the lodge, it appeared nice from the exterior. But don't be fooled! Check-in was quick, lobby not impressive at all, small gift shop stuffed in the corner with a staff that was too occupied with gossip to greet us. Once in our room, we were very disappointed. Cheap furnishings, stains on carpet and bedding, small and in desperate need of remodel. We considered not staying at all, but were too exhausted to bother finding another hotel! The pool is VERY small and water is filthy! St. Nick's restaurant (which is in the basement of the lodge!) is disgusting! We ate breakfast there, and it is over priced garbage! DO NOT STAY HERE! It is close to Holiday World, but that is the one and only good thing about this place! Please take my advice, Stay somewhere outside of Santa Claus. FYI, there are no restuarants in Santa Claus either, well none worth wasting your time/money at anyway! Holiday World is very nice, clean, friendly, do be sure to visit there!

This was our first trip to Santa Claus, Indiana. We chose Santa's Lodge because it is the closest hotel to Holiday World amusement park (which we loved) and the price was reasonable (under $100 per night). It is also close to Abraham Lincoln's Boyhood Home National Park, which we also visited.

POSITIVES
- Close to Holiday World amusement park (just down the street)
- Christmas decor outside and in lobby area
- Queen size beds
- Fairly clean
- Christmas pictures on wall in room
- Wireless internet
- 2 swimming pools (inside and outside)
- Playground
- Good restaurant buffet downstairs from lobby (about $10 per adult)
- Miniature golf next door (Frosty's at additional price)

Negatives
- No elevator
- Rooms were a bit outdated
- No desk for laptop use
- Small table
- Small bathroom
- TV had small amount of channels
- No refrigerator or microwave
- No free breakfast

When we visit Holiday World next time, we have not yet decided if we would stay at this hotel again. The closest hotels are a bit of a drive away. There also are not many restaurants in town to choose from, as Santa Claus is a small town. We like the Christmas decor, but would like more choice and amenities. It was fairly clean, but I would recommend that they put an elevator in the main building and add a desk, refrigerator/microwave, and more TV channels to each room. Those improvements would definitely get us back as a return customer.

Okay, for all youu grumpy people who apparently went to Holiday World on a 94 degree day and came back expecting no kids, quiet relaxation, and hot tea and crumpetts IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! Santa's Lodge may needs some new carpet in the rooms but the convienience of being 30 seconds from Holiday World is nice. As far as "Buds in the pool" (as one complaint put it), come on...the pool is outside and swimming is allowed after dark with overhead lights with a wooded area only yards off in the distance. Maybe you flunked science but BUGS WILL GO TO LIGHT AFTER DARK!!! The staff is as friendly as they come. The cleaning crew will do anything to accomidate you. My only complaint is the bartender didn't know how to make any mixed drinks and asked if I wanted rum in my margarita (that's scary). Other than that I liked it alot. We have stayed there every year for 10 years. It is under new management and I am sure that the staff will read these comments and do thier best to fix them. REMEMBER...this hotel only sees full occupation 4-5 months out of the year. I am sure you can have your peace and quiet....no bugs in pool....and pick of any room in January or Febuary. Thanks again Santa's Lodge....had a great time! Brian Blackwell

Stay away from this one. It was a horrible experience. We couldn't wait to leave! The carpet was dirty, there were several flies in the room, we found a dirty shot glass on the floor, the sink would not drain, the toilet didn't flush right, the hotel staff is not friendly at all, the pool had bugs, the restaurant food was awful, etc. What a dump! For the price we paid, we expected a lot more from this hotel! Never again.

I would not stay at this hotel again, instead I would go to the camp ground and rent an rv. Frosty's was a big let down. My son would not even eat the pizza we got. It was just edible nothing to get again. For breakfast the buffets is way to high for what they had on it. Not much to choose from. They room was clean but they would not take all dirty towels even though we had piled them up in the bathroom each morning. Our room door did not lock, unless we were the first people to use this room they had to have complaints about it before. Brick oven pizza does deliver to the hotel and is well worth it. And all through the night you can hear doors slamming close.

My wife and young child accompanied me on this visit. First thing that happened was a very rude female employee at the desk upon check-in. I won't waste time talking about her ...... The word "rude" says it all. For $99/night you expect more than a bed and a tv(with only about 10 channels). The a/c unit doesnt do a very good job at cooling down the room..... Not good for those who like to sleep comfortably!! They don't even offer complimentary continental breakfast!!!! Almost every hotel that charges similar amounts offers at least that much!! And to top it all off ..... I go into the bathroom(which is smaller than most closets), and when I look in the tub I was disgusted to find not one, but TWO PUBIC HAIRS!!! I guess they don't clean their bathrooms.

Oh, and by the way, we've only been here for 3 hours!! I am afraid to see what's next. Save your money and stay elsewhere!!!! This is a ONE STAR HOTEL that tries to act like a five star resort (and fails miserably)!!
