Stayed at this Hotel for one night in a regular King Non Smoking room on the third floor. The rooms were large with a big comfy bed, refrigerator, couch area and normal tube tv. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. We did encounter some odd customer service at the front desk but she was friendly with us. The swimming pool was small but very nice and clean. We ate at the buffet twice for our stay. Both times the food was just ok. Very small selection on the buffet and the food was not that hot. However the casino makes up for the bad food. The casino is 4 floors with a large non smoking area. We did really well playing a mixture of slots and table games. This is the type of casino that doesnt necessarily have huge payouts all the time but frequent smaller payouts that make your money last longer. I heard several people winning around $1000 on the sound system. Also the drive to Grand Victoria is a nice drive along the Ohio river. The town of rising sun is cute. There is a few gas stations, a small grocery and a few restaurants in town.

I've been to casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City... and Indiana. This is the best "casino" I've been in. The reason is simple: $5 tables pretty much every time I go (Saturday evenings and Holidays are exceptions). I can take $150 and lose (or win) over 1-3 hours. Casinos with $10, $15, and $25 tables I simply do not enjoy as much. The odds and payouts on black jack, roulette, and craps are the best in the country.

This place is generous with their comps (free $25 buffets if you play for a few hours).

The rooms are nothing to write home about. Clean (enough), with a decent view of the Ohio river. You can tell smokers have been in most rooms (even non-smoking ones). The rooms are big. Beds are big, if not terribly comfortable.

The staff is excellent.

There is no where to go if you leave the casino, but that's ok; great food and drink on premises - with a great golf course if you're into that.

I stayed at this motel on a thursday which rates are cut in half. The rooms are very clean and slept great in a extremely comfortable down bed. The casino is small and easy to get around . The food was great and reasonable. I will be back .........

If you enjoy a casino with good security, very clean, and you can also win! i suggest this casino above the other mid state casino's!! I love it there, and ive only been probably to 200 others from west coast to the east coast!! plus they know how to treat there customers with comp's and hospitality. my rating is [ five star's ]

I stayed at Grand Victoria, with a comped room, so there were no complaints about the room-rate. While the overall experience at the hotel was OK, it was certainly nothing outstanding. I believe that it is no longer being managed by Hyatt Hotels, and the change seems to have resulted in a distinct lessening of standards.

The room was an average room, similar to what would be found at a Holiday Inn or Comfort Inn. Everything seemed clean enough. The furnishings consisted of bed, good-sized couch and small table with chairs. The television was an older tube model (no flat-screens here). The bed was reasonably comfortable, but, as many hotels do, the sheets are all of the tuck-in variety (no fitted bottom sheet), and they tend to come untucked during the night. You may find yourself rolling around on the bare mattress, which is not always the nicest surface to imagine oneself in contact with.

The hotel still uses the standard heavy bedspread, rather than a removable duvet, as is seen in many upscale hotels. After all of the publicity about the various, unsavory types of contamination that can linger, unseen, on a hotel bedspread, it would seem that management might want to rethink that type of bedding.

The highlight (lowlight, actually) had to be the uniformly robotic hotel staff. Upon checkin, I casually asked if the front desk might be offering any type of coupons or funbooks, and received a somber "No!" and a look as if I had asked about arranging a tour of the outer planets. Now that might be understandable, except for the fact that Grand Victoria IS attached to a riverboat casino, and the use of coupon and funbook promotions is hardly unusual at casino hotels. Guess the staff here is not familiar with that concept.

Every staff member who was passed in the hallway had their eyes averted, and pretty much looked like they would rather be anywhere but at work. The check-out at the Front Desk was, however, one of the quickest check-outs ever experienced. The clerk glanced at her records, and stated "You-don't-owe-anything-have-a-good-day", and managed to do it without ever looking up from the counter. Not sure if she would have known that I was standing there, if I hadn't mentioned that I was checking out of the room. Best theory is that management must make all of the staff come in before shift, and chow down on the cold, hard leftovers from the previous day's buffet, and then use sour grapefruit juice to gargle with. Maybe they are just minimum wage hotel workers, but they do still have a job, which is nothing to take for granted, in today's economy.

Not sure if I would want to stay here again. The casino was about average, no big wins, no big losses, but I will say that the machines gave a lot of play on money that was recycled in and out of various Slots and 3-card Poker machines. However I have a feeling that the Grand Vic is going to have some serious problems, with the recent opening of the huge, brand-new Hollywood Casino, just a few miles up the road in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. When you have an older casino that is somewhat smokey, and not really all that big, coupled with hotel staff that feel they are doing the customers a favor simply by being there, it is not a likely formula for garnering any repeat business.

My wife and I have been going to Grand Victoria ever since it opened ! They went up and down the river with us on it, that was a little scary sometimes. We saw owners come and go, some good and some not so good. Now I would say Its real good with the hard times that has hit us all. The beds we loved so nice and solf ,our rooms were very clean . The buffet was alright but food on steam line needs to be hotter, The coffee cups need to be a little bigger please. The Casino was great ,But to many Penny, nickel and dime machines. Bring back the big Christmas tree, and if you dont want open Christmas Eve dont. Last year you could tell the workers didnt want to be there . So hang in there things are getting better.

We had stayed at the Grand Victoria earlier this year and found ourselves in the same area again so we gave it another try. What a good decision. During our first visit we had an issue with not having easy access to baggage carts that was addressed by the hotel management and had been corrected. From check-in to check-out, we found everything to our liking. The staff was pleasant and efficient and the room very comfortable. We had a room that overlooked the river and the casino boat, and the view, particularly in the evening and at sunrise, was just awesome. Being able to look out in the morning and see the fog rise slowly from the river was remarkable. The room was fine, the bed comfortable and the internet service quick. We had a fine dinner in Wellington's Steak House where the food was delicious and the service most impressive. In the morning we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The location is out of the way, so you'll never just stop while "driving by" as it's in a rural corner of Indiana.
