“Out of the way but worth an occasional visit”
Review of Rising Star Casino

Rising Star Casino
Attraction details
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Rising Star is away from everything and almost the only reason to be here is to visit the casino. The downtown has a few shops and Rising Sun does have a smattering of special events during the year. There's nothing to distinguish this casino from any other so if you're just into casinos, it's worth a stop. We hit the lunch buffet once or twice a year and that's enough for us.

This is definitely a small casino but the workers are nice and the service is good. The new management is trying to improve the experience. My only complaint is that the theater where concerts are held needs updated because if you are anywhere but in the front of the stage you will have a hard time seeing the talent.

This is just a very average casino. Nothing is really lacking with it but it's just a smaller casino and the atmosphere is just ho hum. It's a smaller boat. Slots were tight to pay out but isn't that pretty much true anywhere anymore? It doesn't have the grandiose atmosphere of the big chain casinos at all and it sits in a fairly small little community - Rising Sun. Kind of in the middle of nowhere. A little isolated to get to. If you are looking for more of a "Vegas" style experience, make the drive to either Belterra to the South or Hollywood to the North.

The casino is an old riverboat with 4 floors and lots of great machines. Not to many table games but the slots were fun

The hotel opened under new management & sent us a letter comping a room & 2 meals to "welcome us back." We took advantage of it on Presidents Day & were not disappointed. The hotel room was clean, large & had a great view of the Ohio River. The buffet in the Riverview Buffet was ok - not great - just ok.

They still allow smoking in public places in Indiana so be warned. The casino & most of the hotel reek. They have plenty of slots ranging from a penny upwards. Several tables were always full of card players.

If we get another free room we would come back
