It is the world's tallest statue with a height of 182 metres. It is located on a river facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam on river Narmada, 100 kms southeast of the city of Vadodara[ and 150 kms from Surat.

The project was first announced in 2010 and the construction of the statue started in October 2013 by Larsen & Toubro. It was designed by Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar, and was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31 October 2018

Been there on 2 days visit after hearing a lot about this place.Great location, beautiful layout but disappointed to experience the arrangements. The buses inside the projects do not display the route. If you want to go to war over dam straight away from the entrance you have to necessarily go to statue of unity stand walk half a km and then take another bus. Sometime security staff force you to go inside the statue complex and come in qouee for bus. No special arrangements for senior citizens anywhere even in the buses. No sitting arrangements at bus stands. Overall it was disappointments on logistics but an excellent job in executing such a project.

Just mind blowing size. And being beside the river makes it more beautiful. A well planned and executed project.
Project authorities need to ensure that the staff working there should be courteous and helpful towards the visitors. Need more supervision to see that the toilets are maintained well.
