“It was good except for the dog poop everywhere!”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

I went here with my husband and my 13 year old granddaughter. We had a good time, thier is plenty of entertainment and fun things for kids to do including a huge swimming lake, a playground, and more. The only thing that we didn't like was that thier was dog poop literally everywhere! It was disgusting. But overall the staff was friendly and it was a good experience.

NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!!
The lady running the show, she is Nice for like the first 3 sentences but as soon as she gets your $$$ then it’s NO SOUP FOR YOU!
Unless you are into being bossed around and sent to your corner for a time out, you should go elsewhere. This place is just crazy.....

The facilities are right off the freeway (loud noise) they charge for EVERYTHING, including the air you breathe and use of daylight ($15 just to use the RV dump???).
Avoid this place at all costs, we pulled in and she started yelling at us the second we got out because she thought a blowing napkin in the parking lot was our trash, she also freaked out while I was backing into a slip thinking I was going to touch her precious dead grass (which I didn't) This was WAAAAY worse than just having a bad day, you can tell this place is run like a concentration camp.

DON’T TALK OUT OF LINE of you will get it!

BROW BEATING DELIGHTS served 24x7 here.
I was afraid my kids might look at her and turn to stone. We couldn’t leave fast enough!

On Labor Day weekend, we stayed at Caboose Lake for 3 nights so that we could attend a dog show in the area.
Chris, the owner/manager, is nice and welcoming beyond words! We felt like we were guests in her home from the minute that we pulled in. All that we expect when we pull into a campground is basic respect as a customer but Chris and her staff went above and well beyond that! Everyone was extremely, genuinely nice! It's very rare that you find a campground staff that will stop at your site for a moment during the course of their normal business to welcome you, say good morning, ask how you are or ask if you need anything. Even the seasonal, full-timers were very friendly and welcoming and all of them kept their spots extremely neat and tidy.
Aside from the welcoming atmosphere, the grounds are immaculate and it's abundantly clear that they really take great pride in their property. The office, store area and restroom/shower facilities are clean and neat as a pin. The spots and roads are all gravel but they are level and very well maintained. There are dog waste stations scattered along the outskirts of the campground should you forget to bring your own waste bags. It appeared that they cleaned them out multiple times per day because there was never ANY smell from the deposit stations.
The spots are easy to get into and out of but they are crammed together. I guess when you have extremely limited space to work with, as Caboose Lake does, you have to make the most of it. They've definitely done that because the sites are well organized.
My biggest complaint? Staying on the side nearest I-65 was uncomfortable, to say the least. The highway noise was horrendous! Jake-braking semis heading down the exit ramp to get to the truck stop all night long really sucks. Luckily, our sole purpose for staying wasn't to relax and unwind to the sounds of only tree frogs, crickets and a crackling campfire. By the time my head hit my pillow at night, I was so exhausted that the road noise was almost a non-issue. I'd recommend reserving a spot on the east side of the lake where the noise is far less of an irritant.
There is a grocery store five minutes or less away in Remington and a Pilot truck stop at the exit. Chris has a few necessities in the office area, too. You're pretty much out in the middle of nowhere at Caboose Lake (halfway between everything...LOL) so you'd better hope that you don't need anything urgent from some place like WalMart.
Even with the negatives, it was a very nice place to stay over and I would highly recommend it as a stop along the way. The welcoming, comfortable atmosphere of a "home away from home"; absolute cleanliness of the facility; and full hook-up spots outweighs their less than great location.
