We decided to stop in Princeton for an early dinner after visiting the Azalea arboretum just north of there. We were curious to see if this restaurant was affiliated with the American Bandstand Dick Clark (it's not).
It is a large building that doesn't look at all like a restaurant....no windows, smallish single door. Inside is quite nice and clean, roomy.
They sell beer and wine but our server tried to tell us that the person who was old enough to bring the beer wasn't there yet .With a little insistence on our part she was able to find someone to get the beer. This was after we had to show our ID twice - even though we are both decades past our 20's.
I ordered their special DC burger, which again, the server tried to discourage. She told me it was huge and had Cole slaw on it, which she personally never eats. Also we learned she doesn't like onion rings and various other menu items. She was very nice and friendly, maybe just not well trained.
Anyhoo, the burger was no bigger than a Big Mac. The patties were small and thin and basically tasteless. My husband got the pork tenderloin sandwich which he said was good. Coleslaw was really good....we had to remind our server to bring it after she brought our other food.
Other menu items were fried chicken, shrimp, salads, salad bar, pizza ,etc.
Two sandwiches baskets and two beers were just under $18. Not a very good value for the quality of food served.
This restaurant has been a family business since 1947, when it started as a curb service style establishment.
