Shady, dishonest, fraudulent, and inaccessible management.
The room we booked was not just not available to us when we arrived (late at night after a long drive and with four teenagers in tow) THE ROOM DID NOT EXIST AT ALL!
The VERY YOUNG lady at the front desk offered to comp us a second room (since the available room wouldn't accomodate us.) Even though it wasn't what we wanted, it was our best option so we accepted.
We began to notice unusual and unauthorized charges on the credit card. The manager was inaccessible but the other VERY YOUNG lady working the THREE TIMES we questioned it assured us we were simply being charged nightly rather than in one lump sum after check-out.
The night before we checked out we AGAIN asked to speak with a manager because the (again, unauthorized) charges had reached a sum total well beyond what we owed. Coincidentally the manager was suddenly available; but only to inform us that the charges were correct - for TWO rooms. When we expressed our shock and reminded him that the second room was supposed to be comped, he (literally shouted) "I don't know why you would think you could stay here for free!" (Note: We paid over $1,000 for the other room so AT NO POINT were we staying for free.)
This is the short version!!
Probably the worst part of all is we're TRYING to resolve this but we were recently informed this is a FRANCHIS and La Quinta as a company has "very little authority" for resolution!
There are plenty of other competitively priced, clean, and comfortable hotels in this area.
My wife and friends booked a room there a week. When they arrived at 1am, the room was not what they were promised. My wife went to the lady at the front desk and told them so. The lady told her that she could comp them another room. My wife told her that they were staying for 8 nights, she said that it would fine. Later that week, my wife's debit card was declined, we called the bank to find out why and found out that La Quinta was charging us for the extra room. She went to the manager and he told her that she was informed that the extra room was only going to free for one night. When she told him that she wasn't, he told her that she was and made some very rude statements to her. We were charged $570 for a room that we weren't supposed to be charged for. They said the hotel staff was great, the rooms were great, but being lied to by the management team, then over charged overshadowed that.
If you book a room there, and its not right, just find another hotel. They'll tell they are going to take care of it, but then will double charge you.
I apologize for the confusion your wife had. She was explained numerous times, even at check in, that the room would only be free for one night. The room she booked was not what she wanted, but was what she booked. To be kind, we offered one free night for her confusion on what she booked. I'm sorry that your experience here was not good, but everything was explained to your wife multiple times during her stay.
