Not much going on here but fantastic fried chicken. Oldenburg is a nice town to walk around after gorging on Wagner's fried chicken. Good coleslaw, great gravy.

We stopped here on the way back from Cincinnati. We had read the reviews and Wagner's did not disappoint. The chicken was hot and cooked perfectly. The chicken liver appetizer was delicious and the Warsteiner Dunkel was delicious. Would prefer less pepper on the chicken breaking but Wagner's is still worth the trip.

We had a family gathering here this week with about 25 people! We always love coming to Wagner's for their family style chicken dinners! The fried chicken is the best I have had! The slaw is one of my favorite slaws anywhere! Definitely worth the drive! I took home some left over chicken and ate it the next two days!

We always hear about Southern Fried Chicken.............well Wagner's Village Inn in Oldenburg, Indiana tops them all. I am told that they fry each batch, to order, in an iron skillet using lard. The chicken was perfect, not greasy. Have not had better.

And..................I am not enthused with cole slaw.....BUT............they truly have the best slaw that I have ever eaten.

Oldenburg is known as a small German community. True to form, German beer was available as well.

I just noticed some of the other reviews.............looks like I am saying the same things. So.............all of this is true and everyone has the same impressions.

Easy to get to.............just a few miles off of Interstate 74 in southeastern Indiana.............not many miles from the Ohio border.

Stopped in on a Sat. evening for dinner with family. We could see that they were busy, but were seated relatively soon. Had to try the chicken dinner family style which is what they are famous for. It did not disappoint. Everything tastes homemade. Wonderful cole slaw, and the chicken, well, is just what you would hope for from a midwestern restaurant out in the country. We weren't sure at first, because we had heard it was peppery, but don't let that fool you. It isn't overpowering, and was seasoned just right. Portions were generous, with plenty leftover to take home. Quaint atmosphere, great service and very enjoyable.
