The Inn itself is very nice and a perfect location for a walk around vacation. The room were very clean but dark and a hard mattress. Breakfast is worth your time, you can sit inside or out. Pick a room with a balcony on the upper floor for a view.

Room Tip: Pick a room with a balcony

Spent one night here in July. Everything closes at 5pm so not much to do; but the inn itself was very nice... had parking, 2 complimentary breakfasts, great location to all the shops. would stay here again.

The good location, inviting exterior décor, & parking lot are draws. Shaker style of rooms is severe: bare hardwood floor, (loose) rag rug, pegs on walls. Curtains do not block light. Room & bath are small enough to be called cramped. Free standing sink allows no room for placing items while getting ready and the wall lamp jutting over the sink is oddly placed. Only two sets of towels. Good water pressure. Staff friendly and helpful. $125 included buffet breakfast in cute restaurant; food was OK. AC worked well. Mattress very soft and sank in the center - the worst aspect of the stay for us. Cleaned a thick layer of dust off the wrought iron light fixtures so as not to have it bug me. For the money, hoped to have been a bit more charmed.

With more than 20 rooms the Artists Colony Inn is more like a small hotel than a B&B or Inn. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the location is super -- right in the middle of town -- and free on-site parking is included. The rooms are spacious and decorated in a country/shaker style. While it is clear that the owners/management have put lots of thought and money into the decor...it also looks like the Inn could use a bit more upkeep and maintenance. The included breakfast buffet was OK...if rather "heavy". Overall, the Inn is a very good place to stay in an enjoyable town.

The room was clean and the staff were friendly. Our room was modest with a very small tv. I was surprised there wasn't a closet, just some pegs on the wall and 2 shirt hangers. The bed was soft and comfortable but sank in the middle. The stay includes breakfast buffet in the restaurant. The breakfast wasn't impressive so that's the only meal we ate there. The location is great right in the shopping district and I feel that's what we paid for.

My husband and I stayed overnight on our way home from a Kentucky state park and were very pleased with our choice. The Artists Colony is a real inn (like back east), small (20 rooms?) and with a full dining room. The rooms are spacious, have big windows (that open!), and are tastefully decorated in Shaker style (wonderfully unfussy), include a table and two chairs as well as a reading chair. Unlike a former reviewer, we found the bed very comfortable and had a great night's sleep. Both bedroom and bathroom were very clean and well maintained. The dining room downstairs is welcoming, has a patio for al fresco dining, and the food is decent. We had a very good meatball soup when we arrived and the buffet breakfast is plentiful (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, apple butter). The day we were there, they had a problem with cooking gas, so some breakfast items like potatoes and french toast weren't available until later. The inn is in a great location for wandering around this cute town.

The artists colony is a very good little Inn. The food and service are very good. You cannot beat the location. If it's a rustic Inn with rustic rooms. The rooms are clean. The bed was very uncomfortable. For the rate they charge they should be able to upgrade the quality of mattress.
