“Beautiful park!”

Brown County State Park

Attraction details
Owner description: Nicknamed the "Little Smokies" because of the area's resemblance to the Great Smoky Mountains, Brown County encompasses nearly 16,000 acres of rugged hills, ridges and fog-shrouded ravines. Glaciers from the most recent ice ages stopped short of the "hills o' Brown," but their meltwaters helped create the narrow ridges, steep slopes and deep gullies of Brown County State Park. Indiana's largest park is a traditional fall color hot spot, with nearly 20 miles of tree-lined roads and many scenic vistas overlooking miles of uninterrupted forestland.

Boyfriend and I stopped by the State Park in Brown County before heading home from our weekend get-away. The park was well maintained and was VERY beautiful! The park provided picnic areas to eat. Would definitely recommend a stop to this state park!

We had a wonderful family reunion at this park. So many trails to hike, great pool for swimming and many different lodging choices.

Very pretty - check out the saddle barn where you can take long horseback rides or short pony rides around the track for only $2. They have a nice large pool area too but not much shade so bring a clip umbrella for a chair or lots of sunscreen if you tend to burn!

We enjoyed driving around and seeing the scenery and loved the horseback riding. We aren't hikers but enjoyed a short hike around a small lake within the park.

We took our visiting cousins here for some fun. We did some hiking, exploring and cricket playing. They absolutely loved it.
