Attraction details
Owner description: Nicknamed the "Little Smokies" because of the area's resemblance to the Great Smoky Mountains, Brown County encompasses nearly 16,000 acres of rugged hills, ridges and fog-shrouded ravines. Glaciers from the most recent ice ages stopped short of the "hills o' Brown," but their meltwaters helped create the narrow ridges, steep slopes and deep gullies of Brown County State Park. Indiana's largest park is a traditional fall color hot spot, with nearly 20 miles of tree-lined roads and many scenic vistas overlooking miles of uninterrupted forestland.

Take a bike. Drive to the top and bike the upper area. We rode to the North lookoput tower. impressive structure. Great views along the way. The park is clean and even though it was the height of vacation season it was not crowded. There are also mountain trails to bike but it rained before we could get on a trail. Next time. Visit the nature center. Well worth the stop.

It's a beautiful park. A lodge, cabins, swimming pools, horseback riding, hiking trails, picnicking, and much more. The Fall it is almost impossible to get in the park because of the scenic views. Who knew this GEM was nestled in Indiana!

We visited the park on a day that was rainy. I was unaware that it actually cost to get into the park and since we weren't from Indiana, it cost us even more ($7). Because it was rainy, we didn't want to get muddy on the trails, so we drove around the park.

Gorgeous park and TONS to do!!! :) It is not really walkable to get around, except for not the grounds of the lodge, but it is truly gorgeous. We took a hay ride and it was a lot of fun for our group to see many parts of the park!
