“RATE GOOD, HOTEL NOT!!”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

The rate for this hotel I thought was good deal until I got there. It pretty much ruined my trip. Our room was supposed to have a queen bed but it was a murphy bed and it was more like an oversized full but not quite a queen. Plus with it being a murphy bed there was no head board to rest on while watching TV or reading. There was not a fitted sheet on the bed or a mattress cover, so the sheet kept coming off and exposing a mattress...disgusting. Our bathroom was clean but the sink would not drain properly...disgusting again! Also there was an empty water bottle not from us behind the night stand and a dirty coffee cup left in the room prior to our arrival. It is not rustic it is so outdated its hard to even explain. I am pretty sure the comforter was from the 80's!! Our room had mauve colored carpeting so that will tell you how dated everything was. All I wanted after a day of shopping was to come back to a nice room and rest but that is not the case here. I will never stay at this hotel again even if they do update! I checked for bedbugs that is how worried I was and I found none. That is the only good thing I can say about this place.

Room Tip: go the the cornerstone Inn I hear is really nice there! That is where I will be staying the next tim...

The Brown County Inn is a bit dated, but still an exceptional value and a great place for a long weekend. The rooms are a bit oldish, but clean and neat. There is an onsite restaurant and lounge, food is decent. The 'heated' pool is actually heated! And, the inn is located at the edge of Nashville Indiana, an artsy community with every kind of knick-knack, or antique, or t-shirt shop. Also, wineries, ice cream shops, and coffee shops, etc. All are within walking distance of the inn. We were motorcycling, and nice touch, the cleaning staff left two towels on our bike each morning.

We have spent many weekend trips here. We love visiting Brown Co.
The hotel is old, but kept up, clean and good service. It is very close to the
State Park and town. We have eaten in their restaurant and the meals where good.

Room Tip: Autumn is a very busy time, need to book way in advance, however try mid week if possible. Foliage...

While staying at the Brown County Inn, we didn't expect anything fancy. We flew in from Wyoming for a family gathering this last weekend (Feb 2013) and thought the Brown County Inn would be "rustic". We ended up being seriously disappointed with our overall experience, which lasted 4 days and 5 nights.

Our room was somewhat dirty, which we accepted at first. The beds were terribly uncomfortable and neither one of us slept well, both waking up with aches and pains leaving us tired the entire 5 days. The room heating and cooling system is extreme and non-in-between. You are either burning up or very cold and the blankets on the bed are so thin that it isn't as though you could just "cover up more" (there were no extra blankets in the room, either). The worst part of the experience was the fact that you can hear everything behind every wall. Kids were running up and down hallways screaming, adults screaming or running after them. We woke up to the snoring to the neighbors on our right side.....it was a complete disaster and we will not be staying here again.

Room Tip: Suite rooms were more quiet, we noticed this when we were visiting with my Grandparents in their roo...

We did not stay at the inn but did eat at the restaurant for dinner. It was great! The menu had so many choices to pick from. Both dinners we got were delicious! The salad bar that comes with the meals was very good too, big selection. The server we had was so friendly and helpful in making a selection (wish I could remember her name). Will definately visit again when we go back to Nashville!!!

We visited Nashville in Feb 2013, as we were leaving the choices for lunch were pretty slim so we stopped here. Terrible service, didn't get half of my order and had to track down the waitress to get it. When it came it was inedible. Over priced. Then decided to check out the rooms. Old, smelly, run down. Will definitely get another cabin when we return.

Room Tip: get a Mcginley vacaton cabin instead

Going to Nashville is a highlight of the fall season, and the town thrives on tourist traffic throughout the year. We stayed at Brown County Inn this past weekend, and were disappointed yet again. There have been signs of updating, but it only goes so far. The rooms are old and the bathrooms are small. Even a curved shower curtain would improve the small bathtub/shower combination. The halls are always ice-cold. We were kept awake most of the night by a group that was meeting there that weekend. The front desk phone rang busy all night, and the night manager never picked up on his/her line. The dining room personnel are very friendly, but the pork loin was dry, and the bread pudding was overbaked, along with a too-sugary sauce. The fried chicken and fried biscuits were good, but it looked like the fryer grease needed changing, as both came out dark and unappetizing. We certainly didn't get our money's worth either way.
