We enjoyed the tours and learning about how the Amish live and have lived. The tour guides displayed excellent knowledge of their topics, gave ample time to look around, and fielded questions well.

The tour of the farm house was excellent. The play was delightful. The other events need a little work in coordination. My wife has a bad knee and she had trouble getting around.

This was our second time attending this event. Lots of different vendors with their wares including some Amish! Unfortunaetly for us it was raining, in fact it was a steady down pour. Thats okay because it gave us time to shop. theres so many things to purchase. I was happy to find beautiful Amish greeting/notecards. Upstairs in the main building theres quilts and I found a sign for a christmas gift. There are lots of Amish books, as well as cookbooks seasonings, sweatshirts. Theres also a restaurant! It finally stopped raining so we could go out doors! theres also a tour! A good time was had. Will be back next year!!! :)

We drove in from Michigan to check out Amish Acres as my grandmother used to take us here when we were kids. Needless to say, I was very disappointed to spend $80 in gas to make this trip. There really isn't much here. As previously mentioned in others reviews, the gift shop doesn't really offer much in the way of unique or local Amish type gifts and many things were made in China. They advertise "antiques upstairs" but there really wasn't anything much up there but some old signs, junk, and more modern toys and such. I can get that at Walmart. There is a sweets/ice cream shop that is mediocre. There is also a cheese/meat shop that we didn't even bother with. We also didn't visit the theatre as we got there a little late in the day.

The biggest disappointment was that the tours were a little pricey for this property and the restaurant was definitely not worth the money. We had the family style dinner at $20 a person. WAY too expensive for processed ham and lukewarm sides. The roast beef and bread and butter were good. The mashed potatoes were very thin (potato flakes??) and the green beans were pretty tasteless. The beef and noodles were also very bland. They also served bean soup which was ok but barely warm. I don't believe Amish Acres really portrays the Amish very well and there were very few of them around. I've been to several other Amish communities and have Amish neighbors in Michigan and know for a fact they are magnificent cooks and bakers.

If you want to experience a truer Amish atmosphere don't waste your money here. Go to Shipshewana instead.

We were at Amish Acres about 3 years ago so we did not go on any of the tours. We came for the plays, which we enjoyed. Food was good, except for the pies. I felt the pies were not homemade.
