“Excellent Lodge in Lower Zambezi NP”
Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

Wonderful place at the Zambezi ! Superb service and care for the guests. Stunning activities such as game drives in the park, boat cruising, walks...
Chalets are on the "wild side" and the normal side. We stayed at the wild side - elephants and hippos in the night ...
Reachable by air or road (if someone wants real adventure)
Always to recommend. We will come back with guests !!

As a vetern in Africa I must say it is one of the best places I ever been too. Where to start? the location on the bank of the Zambezi is amazing, the accommodation great, the food is very very good, when they say all activities are included they really mean it, the guieds are great but the atmosphere is the most importent thing. Fantastic staff led by Yvonne and Mwaka made it a dream stay. Hope to come back.

Today we have just come back from a 3 day stay at Kasaka which was part of a 2 week trip to Zambia. We also stayed in lodges in South Luangwa and in Livingstone. Kasaka is our favourite lodge. 3 cheers to the team who made out stay so memorable.

Lower Zambezi is a really fantastic place to visit. It is a short scheduled flight away from Lusaka and is much less busy than South Luangwa. The scenery is absolutely fantastic sandwiched between the Zambezi river and the distant escarpment. The views across the river to Mano Pools park in Zimbabwe are stunning, particularly in the evening. We saw a lot of game in the park and we had the option of canoing or fishing in the afternoon. The best bit is that there are relatively few lodges in the park at the moment so you have it largely to yourself.

Kasaka is a 5 minute drive from Royal airstrip and is a really scenic lodge spread out along the river bank with small raised walkways connecting the luxury tents and a really attractive clubhouse in the middle with an open air living room halfway down above the river jetty. The layout is really great.

Yvonne and her team were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. On our first night the team laid on a surprise bush dinner with a camp fire, bar-b-q and a candlelit dining table. It was wonderful.

Levy the guide was our favourite guide in Zambia. He was great fun and we had our closest encounter with leopard and lion with him. The park is teaming with game. Guests who were arriving while we were there saw an aardvark while coming to the lodge. I gather they are a rare sighting. Hippos roam the hotel grounds at night and provide a really atmospheric presence.

We really enjoyed the afternoon canoeing trips down the Zambezi passing close to crocs and hippos and with elephants and water buck lining the banks. A motor boat trip is an alternative and fishing is also an option which we didnt try but others did and seemed to really enjoy.

The food was really super. All in all I can highly recommend Kasaka to anyone looking for a stay in Zambia.

The flight in is an added advantage. We flew in with Proflight in a small Brittan Islander and the view after crossing the escarpement is breathtaking. While flying out we saw elephant herds, hippos and crocs bathing in the river.

Room Tip: Rooms on both sides are equally good.

We stayed four nights in the hippo pod end of July and it was an amazing place. The hippo pod has its own pool and you can enjoy private meals. It is ideal for a family. The food at Kasaka was the best we had during the entire trip to Zambia and Botswana. Many thanks to Yvonne for the warm welcome and to Caroline for all her kind assistance with the reservation. We had a great time and can wholeheartedly recommend Kasaka river lodge.

We stayed at Kasaka in August 2011 (I had to enter September as August 11 was not an option), we wrote a rave review which we sent to our Travel agent but I have not found it anywhere so better late than never.
Although I have marked familly it is not a young familly, we traveled with my son and his Fiancee
We have been doing Safaris throughout Africa for many years now every 2 years. We enjoyed our stay at Kasaka so much that we are going back next year in 2013, this time for a week. In fact Kasaka in Zambia is our all time favorite lodge and that includes Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia & South Africa
Staff could not be more helpful and welcoming, Guides were outstanding and nothing was any trouble! In fact the only thing we found that worried all the staff was that their guests were totally happy and enjoying themselves and this was all done with a smile and unassumingly but without being fawning!
The Setting with the sound of the Zambezi gurgling as the water powers by, the fabulous sunsets, and the total silence except when broken by the sounds of fish jumping, Fish eagles calling, Hippos grunting, is the best way I know of escaping the world and total relaxation.
I was especially impressed when a single guest arrived and instead of the guest being thrust in with other guests like it or not as happens with most lodges,, she was taken care of as an individual and all the excursions she wanted to do were catered for. The owners should be proud of their 2 Managers and excellent staff! We eagerly look forward to our return!

My husband and I had a very happy and relaxing stay at this lodge. We were very fortunate to be located in the honeymoon suite with its fantastic views and facilities. The staff were very attentive and helpful. A huge thank you to Yvonne for her wonderful hospitality and loan of her fleece! She and her team have created a truly memorable experience. We loved the lodge dinners where both visitors and staff shared delightful meals and conversation. We enjoyed the visit from the elephant into camp, the baboon in our outside bath! And the midnight visit from the hippo! My fondest memory will be our canoe trip along the Zambezi with sundowners. We hope to return.

We stayed in the Hippo Pod for 5 nights in July 12. Can only fully agree with all the previous positive comments regarding the fabulous location, views, service, helpfulness and friendliness of staff, expert knowledge of the guides etc. We had a trully memorable holiday of a lifetime and wouldnt choose to change a single thing about it. We noted a review 2 years ago regarding the food. Can only say that what we ate was varied, plentiful, beautifully presented and served by the most attentive of staff. We didn't make any special food requests, but we know that anything wouldn't have been too much trouble. Have to also mention Yvonne and Mwaka who both go out of their way to ensure all is perfect. Many thanks and would love to return.
