The smell in this hotel was terrible. Cigarette smoke smell in hallways and in rooms in the bathroom
I was in town for 1 night on business and picked this motel over the others solely on price. The hotel exterior and lobby were in good repair and clean. The staff was friendly and professional. My room (125) was very clean. The furniture in the room was also in good condition, and included a fridge and microwave. The beds were not new, and a little hard for my tastes, but it was only 1 night, so I got over it. The TV was an old style tube model that still provided a nice picture. While not extensive, the cable channel selection was adequate. The free breakfast was above average and included a waffle maker and biscuits and gravy (really good B&G I might add), as well as the standard cold items. I did not use the pool or fitness facilities and so can not speak to their quality.
The only thing that keeps this good hotel from being a great hotel is problems with quality maintenance. As I said, the room and bathroom were spotless, but the bathroom had not seen a fresh coat of paint in several years and the ceiling showed signs of previous water damage and had sections of blistered and peeling texture. The caulking looked like it had been applied by a third grader with a bent spoon. All of the wallpaper seams were starting to peel and the wall repairs were more than obvious. The shower faucet also needed to be repaired or replaced...it was either scalding hot or ice cold; no happy medium.
Should my travels bring me back to Muncie, and my budget needs a little help, I would stay here again, but that's just me. If you are accustomed to the Hilton, don't stay here. If you want a decent motel that has a great location, wonderful staff, and a good value for your dollar, then I can recommend it.
