The Bluebird harkens back to a bygone era with very good food and a pleasant, laid back atmosphere. The fried chicken is what they are known for and is unsurpassed. The service is adequate, but the menu is somewhat inflexible. I wasn't hungry enough to eat the whole 4-piece fried chicken dinner, complete with vegetables, salad bar, rolls, butter and a drink, but my request for a reduced portion was met with, "Honey, if I cut the portions down, I'll have to charge you more." That didn't exactly make sense, but I ordered the full boat and managed to eat most of it. Make no mistake, the food is very good and the prices are reasonable. Just make sure you are hungry enough to eat a lot, because they will insist that you do.
