We stayed nearly 10 years ago when the property was run by different owners. Again we were not disappointed with a fantastic 2 week holiday. Fiona & Tim made the 8 of us (two families) more than welcome and the morning sheep feeding was great fun for young and old.
Views are amazing and full moons, lighting in the nearby hills to amazing sunsets occurring every night. Wineries nearby are fantastic and the 'inpromptu' dinner with Fiona & Tim along with a rehearsal of our band made the 2 weeks complete!
My thoughts for overseas visitors reading this; if you want a real taste of Australian farm life, only a few hours from a major city and 20 min from larger towns, this is a great place to see it all, in a comfortable setting.

Sorry Captain FP, I thought I had replied to this months ago! We thoroughly enjoyed having you, your family and your friends to stay here at Westgate. Number one son still hasn't stopped talking about you all. We hope you'll all be back to stay again soon to provide us some entertainment! The communal dinner was a huge highlight of having you and it was lovely getting to know you all. The 80's rock!

We stayed here for 5 days and it was excellent. The views are unbelievable. Fiona and Tim were fantastic hosts and really went above and beyond. They especially made a huge effort with our oldest son who loved going to do things around the farm with Tim. The house had everything we needed for a family holiday. We headed to the grampians for a day trip and visited the local wineries. I would recommend this house to other families.

Thanks for that. We enjoyed having you to stay. Very glad your son enjoyed his experience of the farm and meeting some of the animals. Most of our animals are very kid friendly and enjoy pats. Thanks again for choosing to stay at Westgate!

What a great way to spend Christmas! Myself, my wife, sister in law and her daughter and my father and mother in law decided to meet up here for 5 days over the Christmas break.
Westgate is just off the main highway, a beautiful property first built in the 1860s featuring incredible views to the Pyrenees mountains in the north and the Grampians in the south.
The guest accommodation is in a beautiful 1950s brick 4 bedroom home with large picture windows, comfy beds and all the facilities you would need. We did all our own cooking, the local supermarket is just 10 minutes drive away in Ararat.
There is a beautiful garden which features huge shade trees, lovely terraced lawns and an unground pool which we used regularly.
We had two dogs with us and Westgate was extremely pet-friendly, the dogs loved exploring the farm and interacting with Molly and Millie, the two resident farm dogs.
Our hosts, Fiona and Tim were fantastic, genuine friendly people, always ready to help if needed and full of useful information. Special mention to Hugh, their four year old son who is a real character and great fun.
In all, a fantastic holiday spot for a weekend or longer, we will definitely be back!!

Echoing the above comments, a great place for a group in particular. It is a unique place with so many bedrooms and bathrooms, and the very large dining table accommodates our wine group comfortably.

Not far from the wineries of Great Western (Seppelt and Bests always require a visit), playing a round at Chalambar golf course 15 minutes away or driving up to the Grampians for walking and sightseeing. Chilling at the house isn’t too hard either with its spectacular views from the top of the hill where the house is situated.

Thanks for your kind review! We love having your group here. It is great having people who appreciate everything the area has to offer, wine, views, good golf courses and lots of opportunities to relax and chill at the house. Hope to see you all again soon! Hope the weather will be better next time. That's one thing I have no control over! At least it's nice and warm in front of the fire or cool under the shade of the tree or inside when it's hot!

We felt at home as soon as we arrived at the property! Perched on a hill, the views from the house were amazing, the surrounding property fun to explore and it was a central place to visit the surrounding attractions and wineries. The house itself was spacious enough for our large group, cosy with its wood fire, extrememly clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed the supplied egg and bacon breakfast. The hosts Tim and Fiona were friendly, welcoming and most helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back!

A group of us have been coming here for over 10 yrs. It feels like home away from home when we arrive as we have been coming for so many years. When we get there the drinks and snacks by the fire feels like a wonderful break away from the city, encompassing the beautiful views from the property..
The bedrooms are well appointed and with 8 of us, it is big enough to cope with comfortable beds and bathroom facilities. The kitchen is fantastic as we self cater and the breakfast supplies ensure we have fresh eggs in the morning. The views are spectacular from the lounge and dining room and the fire makes a cosy addition. It is just very relaxing so have no hesitation in recommending a stay here.

Westgate Vineyard and Country House is a magnificent B and B tucked away at Armstrong, just two hours drive from Melbourne. Its close to the Grampians National Park, wineries and many local attractions. The Country House is spacious, cosy, clean and comfortable with breathtaking views. Tim and Fi made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Its a great place to get away from it all, we can't wait to come back!
