We needed a central base in Kent for a pet friendly short break so the Conningbrook was ideal for our requirements.
We were swiftly checked into room 46 but due to these current temperatures the room was stiflingly hot & as the hotel had no fan to offer us we were moved to room 22 which although much cooler was noisy due to it's location at the rear of the kitchens which didn't close until 23.00 hrs & also noisy during the night due to the herd of elephants in the room above us - squeaky floorboards being the culprit !
Both our rooms were identical & nicely furnished with all that one would reasonably expect to find.
The owners really need to sort the obviously major issue of creaking floorboards & stop just saying '' it's an old building '' as room 22 is in the more modern extension which also houses a small conference centre
We were on B&B and found the breakfast more than adequate, we also ate in the restaurant in the evenings and found the menu varied & fair value.
The pub has a huge garden at the rear with lots of outdoor seating - so it was a pleasure to take our meals outside.
We cannot see this really very nice establishment as a hotel as there are no hotel facilities to speak of but's it's a pleasant base nonetheless.More
