We stayed at the hotel over Christmas with friends.

Nice rooms very good size with everything you needed.

Great having a front door key to be able to let ourselves in late.

Good breakfast choice with attentive waiting staff.

Plenty of parking space.

Room Tip: Nice place to stay with friendly staff. Good seating area to relax. The manager was very attentive a...

Stayed for one night and was excellent value. I paid £45 for bed and breakfast through lateroom. Staff very efficient and friendly, room decent size, clean and fresh smelling. Well cooked breakfast. Only downside was noise from room above but next time will ask for room on 1st floor. Highly recommend.

Stayed here on the way back from a short break on the continent. Bed & breakfast rate was very reasonable for a double room and standards & quality was high. Also had our evening dinner here which was very good and reasonably priced (thanks to Pat for being so attentive). Would recommend this hotel as a place to stay anytime and would not hesitate to check out the price for future trips. Thanks to the management & staff for making our stay a very pleasant one.

We decided to stay at the Conningbrook as an alternative to continuing over to France for a late arrival in one of those soulless prefab places. The chance of a pint before bed was an added attraction.

The welcome was friendly and the room comfortably furnished with all you'd expect - flat screen TV, tea, coffee and biscuits, en suite bathroom. The only negative with the room (on the ground floor) was the incredibly poor sound insulation. Every step taken by the occupants of the room above was loudly amplified in our room - not great.

The beer was OK (Master Brew). Breakfast was firmly in the 'ordinary' category. It's nice to be offered smoked haddock and poached eggs but the rubbery fish and matching (hard-poached) egg really weren't nice at all.

A trouble-free check-out got us on our way to the Eurotunnel, and that's where the real fun started . . . .

Room Tip: Avoid the ground floor.

From the outside it looks like a rather neglected if charming period hotel just off a roundabout. Inside however, the room I stayed in was spacious and beautifully appointed. Many of the 'value' hotels do not include breakfast in their price. The Conningbrook does and what an excellent choice - traditional favourites like kippers, smoked haddock and porridge as well as a heart straining full English. Lots of nice touches (individual jam pots, mixed toast, newspapers on the bar etc.)
The staff were friendly, the nachos in the restaurant the evening before, as good as I've had (no stinting on the guacamole) and being a Shepherd Neame hotel, the beer was excellent (just the one in case you think my judgement was clouded).
There was a little peripheral noise (mainly due to creaking floorboards, inevitable in an older building) but no more than other hotels I've stayed in and I slept well in the spacious bed.
I'll definitely choose another Shepherd Neame hotel if I get the opportunity; they've really got all the details right while retaining character.

1st came here when looking for a house in/around Ashford (6+ years ago - i.e. 2006), Every weekend we'd come here with our then babe in arms, to sit down and re-cap. Fantastic location, brilliant staff, and never a bad meal. Liked it so much we had our wedding here! have been back on numerous occasions and they have never failed to deliver. Admitedly not been there for a while, but will be back....

i stayed at the conningbrook in september and received great service from check-in to check-out. I was visiting ashford for a friends birthday party and had the conningbrook recommended to me by a friend. I was checked in by a lovely reception called janine who also kindly organised my taxi for me for later that evening. I checked into my room which was clean and spacious with a large bathroom. I then ventured down into the bar which was pretty busy all the staff acknowleged me which made me feel very welcome and i was served by a very friendly bald barman who talked me through the ales he recommended the late red which was excellent!!. I did not book a table but asked if it would be possible to get a table for 1 at 6.30 and although the restaurant was busy i was fitted in the food was really good and come out pretty fast and the restaurant manager (pat) was really helpful and chatty. i arrived back from ashford and unfortunatly had left my key in the room!! Very embarrased and a little drunk i rang the door bell and was greated by the deputy manager who i think must live on site who let me in and was very helpful. I would not hesitate in staying here again.
