We had a delightful stay. The next time we will stay longer. Our room was beautiful and Mike and Bonnie are very nice and served up a wonderful breakfast. After breakfast Mike took us on a tour of the lake on his pontoon boat. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I am smiling just thinking about it. :-) This would be a great place to get together with friends too.

Room Tip: We were in the Sunset Penthouse Suite. It had a jacuzzi tub and a nice little porch.

If you are looking for a great place to have a large group for a reunion, this is the place. It was everything we thought it would be and MORE! The owners whole heart is tied into their hospitality, from the grounds to the rooms to the fabulous breakfasts! Mike and Bonnie are the rare gem in this industry....and we are happy to have found them. We will for sure go back!

This was our fourth year at the Lighthouse. Our family counts on this every summer now to get our family together from all different areas of the US. Mike and Bonnie are wonderful hosts and so willing to make everyone feel welcome. The campfire each evening and the beach for the grandchildren is just what we need. Our family loves this place.

We just returned from the Lighthouse property. We stayed in the new handicapped cabin. No - you don't have to be handicapped to stay in this cabin.

We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms (with showers - not tubs but okay with us). The one bedroom has a king size bed in it with a adjacent bathroom. The other bedroom has a queen or double bed with a bathroom in that room. There is a living room that sleeps two on the sofa sleeper and if you are small one can sleep on the loveseat.

There is a fire pit that is right off the driveway. If you go out the front of the cabin and look right, you can see the lake between the two houses.

The property is kept up. If you stay in the cabins (which is what ours was), you can pay five dollars for their full breakfast. If you stay in the lodge, the breakfast is included.

There are ceiling fans in the bedrooms. The kitchen comes complete with items you may need to cook with. Yes - bring your own food.

The lake was kind of cool to swim in. Due to storms, a couple of the days the water had tree items floating. The employees tried to clean it up as much as possible. We were able to swim in the water. As summer goes on, I am sure the lake will be warmer.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.

Room Tip: The cabins give you more space.

Mike and Bonnie are the most gracious host and hostess! They have decorated each room with care, anticipating every need. The breakfasts are exceptional and delicious. The grounds were set up beautifully and our view to the lake was breathtaking. The only regret we had was leaving! This was an awesome getaway and we recommend it highly.

This Lodge is THE best place to stay on beautiful Lake Shafer.
Very comfortable rooms all with scenic views of the surroundings on this lake front property.
The staff is always so friendly and willing to assist you with your vaction needs.

The twilight boat rides, sitting around the the fire pit late night, or just relaxing on your balcony makes it a wonderful getaway.

Lots of things to do for the entire family.

This is a must stay when visiting Lake Shafer.

Room Tip: Main lake front rooms with the balcony (GREAT)

I realize I've reviewed this once, but I've visited twice more since then, so I'm writing another. THANK YOU Mike & Bonnie for yet another great, relaxing, and fun visit. I look forward to visiting with the two of them as much as I do anything else! Last summer, we rented the Blue Roof cabin for my youngest daughters' bachlorette party. It was perfect. We grilled steaks, went out with Captain Mike on the pontoon, and enjoyed a beautiful Indiana sunset sitting around a campfire. So, when we were looking for a Memorial weekend getaway with the kids & grandkids-- it didn't take long for one of my girls to suggest going back to Lighthouse. And we weren't disappointed. Although the weather wasn't the most cooperative, the grandkids (ages 4,3 & 9 months)still enjoyed playing on the playground, and splashing in the water on their own little beach. We stayed again in the Blue Roof cottage. Everything was ready and waiting for us, including fresh flowers. And, when I had a dog crisis on the day I was ready to leave, a quick phone call to Mike solved everything when he told me to bring my Smooth Collie, Dancer, along with me. She got to meet their new little pup Patches.
Breakfast is always amazing. Bonnie has a variety of things to choose from and it's all delicious. Her homemade pecan butter is out of this world. Both Mike & Bonnie go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable, happy, and well-fed. This is the perfect place for families, couples, or even if you are just looking to get away by yourself and relax. There is a vast assortment of books to borrow, toys for kids to play with, and games to share. We went ahead and booked it again for next year. Thanks again!

Room Tip: I have stayed in the rooms at the Lodge as well, and you can't go wrong with any of those offere...
