Mike & Bonnie are the proprietors of this really great B & B that I found on Trip Advisor. Resting on a small peninsula on Lake Shafer the location is private and relaxing. We stayed in the winter with the lake beginning to ice over. Howver I can imagine what this facility can be come summer season, with a private beach, sun deck, and available boating. Lighthouse Lodge is not a retro property but a thoroughly modern facility. And the breakfast is a classic home cooked Indiana feast. I can't wait to return!

Peaceful atmosphere, beautiful rooms & grounds, delicious breakfast, very clean (like brand new), and super hospitable! This place is a must go to! And so resonably priced! It gets a perfect 10. We stayed in the Hawaiian suite but all rooms were beautiful. There are also cottages. There is a small beach area with a pier and newer playground for children. The rec room was inviting as also the sunroom and large deck overlooking the lake. The owners are so inviting and kind as well! You have to visit here!

Room Tip: All are so beautiful and clean. Tile floors, fireplaces, spacious, sofas, etc....you can't go wr...

We spent one night (just the two of us) at the Lighthouse Lodge on December 29, 2012. Our first surprise was the upgrade to the Hawaiian Suite by Mike Triplett.Thank you so much!

Hawaiian Suite: beautiful room, king-size bed, spacious bathroom, Christmas decorations, small fridge, microwave, sink, TV, DVD and VCR capabilities, clean, clean clean!, lovely toiletries, tea/coffee, wonderful view of the Lake...including the playground and slide in the lake

As a parent of two small children, I kept repeating to my husband, "We need to bring the kids here, they'll love the lake and playground. We could totally stay in this room." Even if you had a bottle-feeding baby, you would have everything you needed! Bonnie told us she even keeps spare pack n' plays! All the couches in all the rooms fold out for extra sleep space, too.

Reception Space: beautifully decorated for Christmas, sun room w/tables, main room w/tables, breakfast bar w/attached stools; walls decorated with those cute and funny old antique signs; books to borrow; good variety of both adult and children's videos; children's books and toddler toys to borrow; fresh fruit (apples, oranges, bananas), cookies and water for snacking.

Bonnie's Breakfast: Scrumptious. Pancakes (both regular and gluten-free), bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, fresh fruit with homemade strawberry-rhubarb syrup...this was the yummy "prepared hot meal." Also available to guests: cereal, toast, yogurt, tea, coffee, juice...like a good mom says, "If you starve in this kitchen it's your own fault!" :) We sat around for at least an hour and a half talking with their son and grandson (Hi, Matthew!) and playing with their new puppy.

Additionally we learned the Lodge will have 3 cottages available by summer. Some of these are pet-friendly and include a full kitchen.

We are definitely planning on returning this summer (2013) with our children, who by that time will be 2.5 and 4.5. The oldest is already excited about digging in the sand and playing in the lake!

We have been to quite a few B and Bs pre-kids. I am the "picky" sort and Lighthouse Lodge ranks as one of our top 2 favorite places! 5 stars *****

This B & B is a labor of love by two truly wonderful people, Mike and Bonnie Triplett. You walk in as strangers, are welcomed as family, and leave as friends. First, the construction is first rate and the B & B main building is relatively new. The rooms are spotless, thoughtfully laid out, comfortable and quiet. The layout of the breakfast area shows that a great deal of thought went into planning. It is spacious enough for large groups or family gatherings, and at the same time quaint and close if there are just a few. Bonnie's kitchen is right in front of the main snack bar, and she entertains you with great conversation as she cooks. Mike is quick with a smile and a story, and had breakfast with us as we ate in the mornings. Bonnie's cooking is superb, healthy, flavorful, and fun. The property sits on a quiet point on the lake, and has a swimming beach and boat dock. The grounds are well maintained, neat, and are one of the prettier places on the lake. It is a nice place to relax, and the sunsets are beautiful over the lake. This is the nicest B & B we've stayed at. The other reviews are not exaggerating friends, and if you visit them, you will likely be planning a return trip. Don't pass up the opportunity to visit them in the off season, as the lake and area surrounding their property is quiet and relaxing.

Room Tip: Honeymoon Suite has a great view of the lake the south and west.

Bonnie and Mike Triplett have created an environment like no other! My family occupied all seven suites and one of the cottages for Thanksgiving and my son's wedding. Every morning we were fed a most amazing breakfast and greeted by smiles and a welcoming environment. We cooked our own Thanksgiving meal, accessing Bonnie's super kitchen. Popping in to see if we had what we needed, Bonnie and Margaret were always there to help. When we needed missing food items, they had something to offer. Prepping for the rehearsal dinner, Bonnie added her special brand of assistance. Truly a Godsend to me in preparation for a wedding away from home. While Lake Shafer may be a summer spot to many, it is also a great fall vacation. Bonfires two of the nights we were there provided a great atmosphere for our younger crowd to gather and chat, spending time together without the old folks. A play ground was well used by my nephews. I travel quite a lot and interact with lots of people in the hotel industry- The Lighthouse Lodge is one of the best!

Room Tip: Room choices for us depended on which family could climb the stairs. Rooms 6 & 7 have three flig...

My girlfriend and I booked a room at the Lighthouse Lodge for several days while visiting her family nearby. We stayed in the "Hawaiian" room which was wonderful. Huge comfortable bed. Nice porch with a great view of Lake Shafer. The room was very spacious and had all the amenities that one would want in a holiday B&B. The TV was a bit old but included cable or satellite (I don't remember which). Mike and Bonnie are wonderful hosts. Bonnie cooked an amazing breakfast each morning. There's a great deck area facing the lake. A "sunroom" with a great view of the lake as well. A nice big yard with fireplace next to the lake too. Cleanliness of the room, the common areas and the grounds was first rate. I look forward to my next trip to the Lake Shafer area to stay with Mike and Bonnie at the Lakehouse Lodge B&B. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great place to stay. Very comfortable and "homey" feeling.

This was a vacation experience like no other. My parents book a place for all the adult kids and their families (6 families plus mom and dad) to get together for 1 week in the summer. We all get to visit and have quality time with our siblings and their families for more than just the one day around Christmas that we were doing in years past. This has allowed us to connect and make lasting memories with eachother. We fondly refer to this week as our annual FamDamily Vacation. 2012 marked our 5th year of getting together and we found The Lighthouse Lodge could accommodate all of our 28 family members (although we were missing 4 this year). This was the best find in all 5 years thus far. There was something to do for every age - from our 3 year old to our 70+. Mike and Bonnie bent over backwards to see that we had everything we could possible need. They were very gracious and we all felt like we were very welcomed in their home. Bonnie cooked the most wonderful breakfasts and spoiled us. Mike was the best captain of the lake that we could ask for. The rooms were very relaxing (great for having a little personal space away from the family when needed) and extremely clean, beds were very comfortable and the service was well above excellent! Usually, we choose a different location each year just to give variety to our vacations, but guess where we are going in 2013? You guessed it - back to The Lighthouse Lodge! And we can't wait to get back there! If you are second guessing booking a vacation or just a short get-a-way here, STOP! This is an amazing find!!! I promise, you won't be disappointed!
