“Great place just to relax”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

We spent two night here, the place was amazing, very quite, with pools available in different locations, we paid half of the price that we paid for the Mision Juriquilla, and the service of this place was far better, the rooms very clean and no flies inside the room, we had wonderful sleeping time at night.

The place is big enough to walk around.
The pool and the restaurant are available all day long, from 7 to 22 hours.

The staff from the restaurant was amazing, Lorena and a young gentleman always smiling and helpful. although the staff form the reception could learn a bit from them.

We enjoyed this place, would go back next time in Mexico and would recommend the place.

Older hotel but comfortable with good service. Rooms used to have a fridge but last time not available. Hopefully they will have them by the time I go next in a few weeks. Pool is nice and lounge chairs around it are good. Pool bar is well serviced at weekends if you are there. Restaurants are very good but get a little old if you are there for a considerable time. So head out for dinner and be adventurous. There are several excellent places by the man made lake nearby. Rooms had that slight tropical smell to them but that is not a bad thing. No elevators so be prepared for a long walk if you are on the upper floors at the far end from the hotel entrance. Many insects crawling around in the evenings so best to stay off the ground floor.

Room Tip: Upper floors overlooking the pool.

This hotel is located in Concá at the Sierra Gorda de Querétaro. There are not many lodging options in this area and this hotel and the Hotel Misión Jalpan are the only hotels from a hotel chain which isn't a guarantee. I mention this because usually the Misión hotels will have a 4 star rating but as these hotels are located so far away, and staff is from that area, service is not the best although they try hard to deliver a good service. People are kind and helpful but don't expect to have a great service.
The hotel was an old hacienda which was remodeled to be a hotel. Rooms are basic but clean. I have encountered many (really many) hygiene problems in the restaurant with raw food as salads so if you ever travel here choose cooked food.
There are many buildings in the hotel, I always choose rooms in the main building (where the reception is).
There's no telephone (only at reception), there's few mobile signal and no internet so be prepared to be out of the loop for some days.
Very close to the hotel there's the Conca Mission and Jalpan is about 30 minutes from the hotel. Jalpan is a bigger town than Concá where you can find bancs, small grocery shops and some restaurants.

Room Tip: I preffer the rooms located at the main building.

Hotel Misión Concá is the farthest into the Sierra Gordas from the city of Querétaro of all the Franciscan missions. It is a full-day, white-knuckle, journey through the Sierra Gordas up to Concá, but well worth the bus ride! This is a clean, colonial, traditional mexican hotel. We went in the fall and it was cool coat weather. There is no heat (of course) in the room, but warm, woolen blankets on the bed and hot water for a shower. During the day, it warms up and you can swim in the pool or swim in a thermal spring pool at the back of the property. They have an Aztec steam cave, massage and a cold water pool as well. They also allow camping on the grounds. Dinner was served outside, with our coats on, but we kept warm with the only bottle of wine in the restaurant, though tequila would work just as well! This is the only hotel in the area, but no need for another. The accomodations and service were perfect!

  • Liked — Its location is far away from the crowds.
  • Disliked — The big swimming pool is not heated with a solar blanket to warm the water.
