This place has a nice décor and a good menu. Service was competent and efficient. There's a nice bar and plenty of people ordering their meal at the bar. As a visitor from the New York area to the South Bend area a few times a year (for University of Notre Dame), this is one of the places that is more like a restaurant from a major metropolitan market. I will return on future visits. It is a nice break from the overwhelming selection of chain restaurants near Grape Road.
When we visited last month the food itself was good, but short of excellent. The scallops and lamb were nice quality, but unfortunately the lamb was cooked beyond everyone's request (medium rare was definitely medium and not too far from medium well). The scallops were very good. (We were here a few years ago and my recollection was the rack of lamb was perfect last time.) We did not order dessert so I can't comment.
We'll be back. The atmosphere, service and menu make this a worthwhile eatery even if the food is not quite a grand slam. PS-- it's noisy when full.
