“Away from it all”
Reviewed November 5, 2011

The Blue River Cafe has no competition. The people are friendly, the service is great, and there can be very good entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. i had the Hot Brown, a Louisville arear favorite. it was served hot on a briskly cool day and tasted good but the fact it was made with lunch meat turkey was a disappointment. The building is a new construction that replaced the original burned structure. They did a good job keeping the atmosphere of the old place. The interior is calmly decorated with paintings by local artists. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

“Wonderful meal in a small town!”
Reviewed September 13, 2011

Took my husband to the Blue River cafe for his birthday. The meal was wonderful. They have a nice selection of drinks. Wine, beer and other nonalcohlic drinks too. The menu has a nice selection to choose from. From large dinner portions to sandwiches, soups and salads. They also have a items on the menu for kids. My husband got the steak and it was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed a wonderful veggie burger. You must save room for dessert. We had a slice of Chocolate cake and also got the Chocolate Torte both were excellent!! They have 3 areas for setting. A regular family dining room in the front area a live music dining area in the back and a smaller bar area in the middle. Smoking was allowed only in the bar section. Nicely decorated with local artisans painting's on the walls. We are so glad they are back up and running they had been greatly missed. A must restaurant to visit!!

“The Phoenix Rises”
Reviewed July 31, 2011

The Blue River Cafe has reopened after their devestating fire a year ago. They are back and better than ever. This time around the restaurant is all on one level, with the bar area in the middle. The owners have done a great job of recreating the feel and look of the old cafe, while adding some new touches that have brightened up the rooms. The cafe has music on the weekends and the new sound system is state-of-the art. But, of course, the most important part of any restaurant is the food, and the Blue River's food is delightful. They have a weekly menu that rotates to incorporate seasonal foods and a "standby" menu that includes a variety of sandwiches and salads. There is always at least one vegetarian entree and you can have any of the various burges they offer made vegetarian. The food is prepared using locally sourced vegetables and meat wherever possible. A new addition is handcrafted veggie burgers which were tasty, well-formed patties. The vegetable risotto was a creamy, garlicky delight with a variety of fresh vegetables. With two sides (including some excellent fried green tomatos) and bread it was too much to eat in one sitting, so I had risotto for breakfast the next day! They have some new wines on the well-chosen, and well-priced, wine menu and a terrific variety of beers. There is also a full bar and I can attest that the bartender has great skill with a martini! The Blue River Cafe is a gem in our tiny community, we are delighted they are back!
