We have visited this restaurant several times and find the variety of food properly prepared, and the desserts excellent with many to choose from.

“great food and great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2014

We had dinner buffet here on the 4th of June, and it was our first time at this restaurant. We had the buffet style dinner, but you have a choice of family style dinner or you can order from a full menu.
The food was very good and the servers were very helpful and polite.
Essenhaus has a performance nightly. We have never gone to the show, but we will try to go the next time we are in Shipshewana.

“Great place to take visitors”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2014

While out with our company showing them the area we stopped here for lunch and as usual the food was tasty and plentiful. We been here dozens of times and have never been disappointed with the food or service. Today there was only a couple minute wait before being seated and we choose the buffet. Our friends were impressed with the taste of the food and are looking forward to coming back. We stopped at the bakery on the way out and bought some bread and breakfast buns to take home.

“Great Amish Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2014

There was nothing at this restaurant/buffet/gift shop that we didn't like. The food was wonderful, even the spaghetti tasted great. The salad bar was perfect.

“Overall good, great if you like pie!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2014

The restaurant doesn't take reservations, but if you are staying in the inn, you can. The family style dinner was very good. Limited selections on sides, but the chicken was delicious. The second night we ordered off the menu (family style is just way too much food!) and that was very good too. The spinach salad was excellent. If you are a pie eater, this is the place. They have 30 different kinds! Pie isn't my thing but even I had to try it.

The dining rooms are mostly just functional, not as charming as the inn itself. The attached bakery has the biggest donuts I've ever seen. Overall a good experience.
