Buffet satisfied us. Food was OK. Enjoyed the shops. Server was nice. Nothing fancy with the food, yet it was tasty. Reasonably priced.

“Awesome Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

We ate at Das Dutchman Essenhaus on August 23rd, while visiting friends in Indiana. Most of the servers are Amish; not that that has anything to do with the food. Service was prompt and efficient; and the fried chicken, Dutchman-style, was simply delicious! We also visited the gift shop and purchased some gifts and food items to bring back to Texas. It's a very nice dining experience, and the menu is reasonably priced.

“AMISH COOKING”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

It was our 2nd visit to Das Dutchman Essenhaus for the buffet, beef with noodles/mashed potatoes and pie. We shared a slice of real blueberry pie with whipped cream for dessert. The Amish homecooked meals are delicious and our waitress was very friendly. We always wait for the Amish buggy table!

“Did not eat but did other stuff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

Took a carriage ride and visited the shops today. The Amish man Dave, and his horse, Doc, were great! Dave was very friendly. The shops have a good selection of gifts, clothing, etc. not our first time here and certainly not our last!

“Great breasted chicken”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

We ate there twice while in Amish Country looking for quilts and furniture. The first time we were there we ate at the menu side of the restaurant. Just like it sounds, you're seated and given a menu. The family style dining is a set menu and includes a beverage and desert.

The service was prompt and very friendly. They have an extensive pie selection. I had the breasted chicken both visits and it was great. The green beans weren't too salty, not crisp but not mushy either. The noodles were a little too salty, but the mashed potatoes were good.

There are a lot of little stores scattered throughout the building, which is huge. Lots of things to see. We walked around to work off all the good food. There are also great little shops outside of the restaurant. I loved the Quilt Shop too!
