You can have family style or menu service at this very busy restaurant. Very traditional Amish food like fried chicken or meatloaf. Many sides to choose from. It has a home cooking flavor, nothing fancy just basic good comfort food. Many many pies to choose from for dessert. There is also an attached bakery and gift shop. It’s always a busy place.

We always stay at this hotel because everything is always top notch. The breakfast is the best and the balcony room in the new part of the hotel is absolutely outstanding. Our room was high above the ground overlooking the pond as we watched the horses and buggies trot by. I would suggest that you pay the extra $20 for the balcony rooms..they are SO worth it

Starting with check-in, there were two workers at the front desk and both were having trouble of some kind. We waited about 20 minutes and a long line had formed behind us. Our check-in was very quick. The room was nice and we thought it might be a good stay. Within about two minutes it sounded as if a herd of elephants were in the room above. It was children running and stomping. From our traveling experience, we knew the front desk asking them to be quiet wouldn't work. After waiting five minutes, we went back to the front desk and asked if there were any rooms on the top floor. She couldn't find us any (we had requested the top floor when reserving). She said the manager determines whether to honor the request. The woman did offer to phone Hampton Inn & Suites to see if they had a room. They did and we hurried over there. (see my review of that hotel).

Room tip: If you can get the top floor, it might be a good stay. It appears it's up to the managers whim.

Greetings Kenneth! We are terribly sorry to hear about your recent visit. We regret the noise that occurred in the room above yours and that you encountered a lengthy wait for check-in. We would be delighted to have another chance to earn your patronage and warmly welcome you back to the Inn. Thank you for your review and for taking a moment to share your experience. We value your feedback.

I have stayed at the Inn several times over the past couple of years. They are now allowing dogs into there facility if they were Service animals I would not have a problem but they are clearly for companionship. I hope the realize this creates problems for people with asthma and severe allergies.

Good Afternoon Jack. Thank you for allowing us to host you and for taking a moment to share your feedback on your recent visit. We are pleased to note that we remain a pet-free facility with the exception of properly documented service animals. We are also delighted to make special accommodations for guests with animal allergies, such a room relocation, if occupancy allows. If we discover an undocumented animal, we will be sure to address the situation in a proper and timely manner. As always, our front desk team is pleased to assist and answer any questions related to this topic. Thank you for allowing us to host you, Jack! We look forward to warmly welcoming you back and to have another chance to earn your patronage.

We have stayed at the Essenhaus Inn several times. It is always very clean and the decor makes you feel at home, definitely not your typical hotel. The staff is always very friendly. We enjoyed the hot tub as well. It would be nice to have extra soap for the shower as only by sink. We gave it a 4 because of a couple things - The beds are rock hard but if you like a firm mattress you will love it. Our only real complaint is we happened to be across the hall from a couple rooms they were remodeling and promptly at 8:05 am we woke to pounding that went on for a good solid 15 min. By that time we were awake. Not quite what we had in mind for a relaxing time away. The Inn wasn't that busy as was a Monday night so maybe it would have been nice to have had the option to be elsewhere away from that noise if it was explained to us. Other than that it is a safe area and has good lighting outside. There are shops and the restaurant which is within walking distance. Beautiful relaxing atmosphere for the most part.
