We were very very impressed with our stay! Beautiful room! Very very clean...lots of room ....comfy bed. We had a cute balcony. The views here are so beautiful and peaceful! Nice indoor pool and hot tub, even a kiddy pool..might be bringing the grandkids next time we stay. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and great cookies and coffee in lobby at all times! We will certainly be back, and probably with extra people!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Essenhaus Inn! The inn and grounds lend themselves nicely to a quiet, relaxing visit. The rooms and entire complex are spotless and beautifully decorated in the "country theme"...especially love the gorgeous quilts hanging in various places!! All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The rooms were so welcoming and cozy...had a good, restful sleep in the comfy beds.
The breakfast had a good variety to choose from and a large, bright room to enjoy our meal in.
The grounds around the hotel are nicely landscaped, with a walking path and even a covered bridge!
Right next to the inn are the little shops that are fun to browse and Das Essenhaus restaurant which has wonderfully delicious Amish inspired food...fried chicken, roast beef, potatoes, noodles, stuffing, etc. and so many pies to choose from for dessert!!!
We will certainly be coming back here, hopefully, at least a couple of times a year!! Totally recommend this excellent facility!!!

Our room was large and nicely appointed. We had a double-double. There was a dressing area with hanging space and a sink, handy when someone has steamed up the one in the large bathroom. The desk also had a nightlight which is nice when one gets up in a dark and unfamiliar room.

Breakfast was a bit better than the typical continental breakfast. Especially nice were the biscuits and gravy. The breakfast area was on the second floor balcony and was bright, airy and spacious.

The Essenhaus Inn has expanded greatly; it has large, airy, comfortable rooms. Our room had a balcony that overlooked a pond, weeping willow trees, a covered bridge and the expansive property with walking paths. Although it also overlooked Route 20 which is busy, it was fun to watch both semis and Amish carriages go by. It was far enough from the road to not be bothered by road noise. The room was very large, with a couch, desk, table and king sized bed. The entire facility was spotlessly clean. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Housekeeping provided a number of options balancing a comfortable room with concerns for the environment. The breakfast room was large and comfortable and not crowded. It is pleasant to walk around the various shops on the property, and we were enticed more by the fact that we got a coupon offering a discount on one item at each store. It is an easy walk to Das Essenhaus, the well known Amish restaurant.

The bed had a nice mattress, firm but not hard. Bedding was comfortable. If there was any flaw it was that the comforter was so heavy that you either had to sleep without it or cool the room down enough to use it.

The Inn is in Middlebury which is centrally located in Indiana's Amish country, but one of the smaller, quieter towns. It is only a short drive to Shipshewana and to Goshen, both of which are busier towns. We found the location very convenient.

Room Tip: A balcony room on the south side of the building has a lovely view. We were on the 3rd floor and it...

My husband was attending a conference that was being held at the Inn's conference center and so we stayed there for the weekend. We had a standard room with two queen size beds, average size room with beautiful oak furniture but the wallpaper and curtains were a little tired looking. The bathroom was average size also and there was a second sink/mirror area just outside the bathroom which was nice for both of us getting ready at the same time. The towels seemed very old, were EXTREMELY rough & scratchy. The Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries that were provided were nice. Room had a small refrigerator and there is Wi-Fi also, though we kept losing our connection which was quite frustrating. Beds were quite hard and sheets were rougher than we're used to, we didn't sleep as well as we would have liked. Room was very clean as were the common areas. Staff was friendly, pool area was nice, and common areas were enjoyable. The grounds are lovely and there is a nice walking path that goes around the ponds and over a covered bridge. Continental breakfast was a little different from most, no waffle makers or scrambled eggs but mostly all carbs----cold cereal, instant oatmeal, toast, bagels, muffins, breads, small donuts, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, packaged fruit cups, juices, milk, coffee. Biscuits and sausage gravy too but the gravy had very little sausage and an odd taste.
Overall it was very convenient to stay right where the conference was being held and we enjoyed our stay despite the few "cons" I've mentioned. It was a nice change from the usual chain hotels.

What a great place for a getaway. Staff is welcoming and helpful. I took my grand kids for an over night, and it was perfect. They went swimming a lot in the nice pool. The atmosphere is very cozy. Breakfast was great. Rooms are very spacious.

Room Tip: The room was close to the pool, so grandma didn't have to walk to far.

I stayed at the Essenhaus because of all the good reviews it has gotten online. I wasn't disappointed with my stay. The atmosphere is very pleasing with a home spun feel. The common areas including the pool are very well kept and great attention to detail. My room was large and included a sofa with coffee table. The bathroom was small but spotless with an extra sink located outside the bathroom. The bed was great with good linens and blankets.
The grounds are well maintained with the Amish stores and restaurants on the same campus.
The breakfast was "continental" but the coffee was great as were the pastries.
This hotel is a great respite from the cloned chain motels/hotels with decor, attention to detail and service outstanding.

Room Tip: Next time I will try a balcony room so as to enjoy the pond view.
