I've eaten here many times over the last 15 years, through a couple of ownership changes. They've never disappointed. A small quaint comfortable bar has been turned into a larger quaint comfortable bar. More outdoor dining. And the food has stayed consistently excellent. My last had an outstanding pork porterhouse. If you are in the area, just an ideal place to for a relaxing dinner.

We have eaten here several times over the years and enjoyed the food and atmosphere each time. It is set back from the beach at stop 33 In a leafy section of beach homes. It is a bit pricey. But to eat in a quiet inn with atmosphere as lovely as this makes for a special evening. We had an early dinner there on New Year's Eve and felt like we were in a scene from "Holiday Inn." At other times it just feels like a little New England inn. Go for good food and unique atmosphere.

Duneland Beach Inn (between Michiana and Grand Beach). . . Cathie and I ate there this evening. We started out with a martini for me and a glass of wine for Cathie. For starters, we shared a salad of grilled peaches (they are in their prime right now) with arugula, shaved almonds and a farmers cheese. Main courses were: rainbow trout for Cathie, and a 16-oz porterhouse pork chop for me. Sides were green beens and mashed potatoes. We split a California Pinot Noir with the meal as well as a oreo crusted cheesecake with raspberries. Plenty of fish and pork leftovers to take home. Dinner after tax and before tip was $125. These are "Chicago" prices, but this is a very nice place for a special occasion. We've been there before and plan to go there again.

Spent a night there just to get away for the weekend. Waiter failed to enter my entree order and it was never delivered. We waited nearly 30 minutes for the rest. manager to come to the table-while having to go to the bar to get our own drinks, as the waiter wouldn't approach the table. We finally gave up and paid the bill and went outside, where the ?owner? approached us to find out the problem. After defending the waiter, (isn't the customer generally right?) he did give us a $50 gift certificate it an attempt to molify us. I did not find him overly sincere or even interested. I will say that the place was packed all night, so someone must have been having a better experienc than us. As breakfast was included, we did eat there the following morning, and service was polite, though slow, and the food was fine.

We love the restaurant/ bar here but the food and drink prices are insane. This place is in a small town in Indiana, not downtown Chicago. We recently went to the bar for $6 wine night. What they offer at this price is crap wine. You can get a bottle of it at the store for $7. What a joke!!!!! Cocktails and the food are so over priced I am not sure why anyone goes there. It's really a shame, if the prices were reasonable we would dine there 2-3 nights a week.
